A. M. E. CHURCH
Rev. Hale B. Thompson, Pastor
Asheville, N. C.?Typically
beautiful! weather prevailed thru
out the day in this beautiful moun
tain city. The invitations to worship
were made through the appeals
of early morning bells coming
from alt oT the churches and
in our Church school an unusually
large number gathered for the
study of God's word. The lesson
was conducted with gripping interest
and a thorough review was
given by our pastor. The Sunday
school continues with enthusiasm
it's preparation for the Eprscopa!
district wide convocation which
convenes Kittrell dollege on
August 16th.
Sunday past was Junior church
nay ana our youm muae a wonaerful
impression and gave a lcnrely
expression of gratitude for the
opportunity to serve. At the clos<
of the devotional part of our service,
our pastor delivered a profound
message from the subject
"Spiritual Freedom" taken from
Galatians 6:1. Minds were constrained
to think upon the way and
the spiritual tide ran high. Two
young persons connected themselves
with the church and wpre assigned
to the classes of Mesdames
Emma Pearson and Ida Taylor
respectively. Acknowledge m e i#
of the presence of many visitors
were made and warm welcome was
extended.
At the evening's' service many
gathered again to worship. "Good
News" constituted the subject for
the message by our pastor and
was taken from St. Luke 2:11.
Many visitors joined in again at
our evening's worship. The usual
financial reports representing
our boards and clubs activities for
the month were received one-hundred
percent. The pastor com
mended all for thfcir contributions
to the sifccessful achievements
during the past two months of
the following program: Our rally
effort which retired two* mortgage
obligations; our annual revival
during which many accessions
were made and souls saved and
our Jihrrd quarterly conference.
