SAINT JAMES
A. M. E. CHURCH
Rev. Hale B. Thompson, -pastor
AsheVilke, N. C.?Qur revival
came to a glorious close on the
past Sabbath with fc/urteer saved
and twelve7 accessions to church.
Back-sliders were also reclaimed
and the saints had niountair.-top
experiences for a period of three
weeks including the week o" prayer.
Along with the wonderfu' results
spiritually an abundance of
finance was received to cover every
item of expense wirch was incurred
by this special eampaigr
for souls. The Revererid Stroud
who conducted this meeting returned
to his charge on Saturday
morning himself greatly benefited
by this meeting.
From the subject "Spiritual
Vision" our Presiding Elder, Dr.
K. C. Holt, delivered a soul-stirring
message at the moTn:ng service.
Herats burned by the way
as the servant of God unfolded
the message. It was in perfect
harmony with the messages which
had jbe?n delivered during the
two weeks preceeding. The class
of converts occupied the front
seats and "deceived -the messages
at both the morning and evening
services with profound interest.
Many visitors were present among
whom was Mrs. Anna O. Turner, a
house-guest and relative of our
pastor, from Georgetown, S. Q.
All were extended a most hearty
welcom pby pastor and church.
Class assignments were made to
all recent converts. Ho'ly Baptism
hWi'll ?be administered to two
in the near future.
At the evening servltje there
gatherer afl|ain an overwhelming
crowd for EEe purpose of divine
worship^ De. Holt delivered 'a
powerful1. and interesting message
again the subject of which was
"Hiddlen Treasure^" taken from
St. Matthews 13:45. Again-the
elass of converts received a [message
which was designed to be
strengthening.
The business session of our
quarterly conference was hfeld
with great spe^d and efficiency
because of the smooth organization
instituted by our pastor and
the perfect coc/peration by the officers
and members.?The accom.
plishnients for the quarter past
were fourteen accessions, eight
marriages, and a volume of $1501
35 &orth of business for God and
His kingdom. As usual our elder
was cared for in full and after
making expressions of great satisfaction,
he and Mrs. Holt departed
