Saturday, May 29, 1937. PICKENS COUNTY | TRAINING SCHOOL Pickens. S. C.?How glad are we all of May time. The name, some writers say come from the Latin word meaning to grow, and this would, .seem a fitting name indeed, for how things do grow in this beautiful month, the month of fruit blossoms. But, however May came by its name we know that in ages and in all Lands it has been the custom to look upon the month of May with great favor. The Romans held a festival in honor of Flora, ? the goddess of flowers so the Pick ens County Training school has sponsored the "Crowning of Hei Queen" at a very elaborate occas sion held at the school May 3rd.
