VOL. XII?NO. 21. THE COLUMBI \ NE The Columbia Negro Business league met at Zion Baptist church Tuesday night, May 14, at 8:30 o'clock. The attendance was good. Subjects discussed as follows: 1. How do the colored people see our business as a business. 2. Do we support suid business as we should? If not, why? v 3. Are we trying to nieetcoffP" petition ? 4. Following a very earnest appeal made by Mrs. Wilkinson many of thC clubs increased their quota for the coming year. A group of Columbia ladies pledged themselves' to be -responsible for electric - refrigerator in the home and the amount of $25.00 was the sub seription of* another lady.- ^ - Adjournment was in order aftei such a strenous lhorning" and the group was invited down stairs to 1?partake of a most doticTous- luncheon. After"-the lunclrcoTT the la-" 1 dies were guests of the business ' and professional men's club on a sight-seeing tour. Following tlu tour a very delightful hour was spent as the g.'test of the local clubs at a garden tea at the borne of Mrs. Thompson.
