IlIG FRATERNITY PROM AT
S. C. STATE COLLEGE
The Alpha T.ainbda Chapter of i
the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity!
crave the most gala affair of the
season when they entertained a
select, group of guests at their
, annual! Prom.
The Prom was proceeded with a
hanouo.t at the supper hour in the
teachers' dining hall with I\appa
men and their puest,s present only.
The room was decorated with our
emblem and special mad0 balloons
in the Frat colors'. Music was fur-,
ri-hed by radio while -we dined.
The menu was composed of chicken
dinner and all of its accessories,
_ the desert, was pinea^jde short
cake. After which we recessed until
8:00 p. m., when the Prom be~
ban-propers sr?; L:?_
The guests were received at the
door bv the Kanna nledpcs. Then
Uhcy entered the beautiful decorated
gymnasium. The Kappa colors,
crimson and cream, were draped
artistically over an area which hid
the entire ceiling. It was just like
a garden transported there.
The Orchestra was seated at the
left of the gymnasium on a plat?
form and the Kappa emblem._ was
directly opposite the right entrance
- behind which stood two pine trees
and branches.
In the center of the floor stood
a trough, above which was sus
pended a huge cake of ice, hollowed
out in the center li]<e a bowl
into which punch was poured.
Sandwiches, cakes, and candies
were served by the Scrollers.
Cream bnfloons bearing the name
of the Chapter of the Fraternity
were given to each guest. Many
other souvenirs were given also.
Attractive hand-painted Kappa
paddles were given 1? the members
of the Chapter arid their?guests.Mrs.
M. J. Fai ls, the Dean of Women
was giv#h a hand-painted
Kappa Insigna.
After the intermission the Kappa
m >n sang their National hymn.
.Then special Wqlt7.es wore played
for each fraternity and sorority;
Alpha Phi Alpha then A. K. A.
Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta,
and finally Kappa Alpha Psi
and cn with the dance.
The music was exceptionally
interesting. "~!Phe Orchestra was
appended vigorously hy the guest
for its smooth rendition of so many
well loved numbers.
The ladies were all charmingly
attired and the men more gracious
than Over. All in all was a most
enioyable evening and one that
I j will be remembered for some time.

We were soothed, although bereft.

To await the eternal dawn
Where we all shall reunite
In our robes of spotless white.
