Saturday, January 16, 1937 UNION BAPTIST CHURCH Sunday was a pleasant day for church goers. The Sunday school began at the usual hour, 10:00 a. m. with the Supt. at his| po*b of duty, Mr. L. C. Cook. Most of the officers and teachers were pres ent. After the lesson was taught the teachers and pastor reviewed the lesson very beautifully. k At 11:30 the pastor, Rev. L. C. Jenkins preached' a soul stirring sermon, using as his subject, "The Unity of the Christian Church,'" I Cor. 10:17. Our hearts were spoke to us by the wuy. It was a Bex*mon that will long be remember ed, truly this man is one sent from God. because no man could speak as. he has spo.ken excepi God be with hiip,. ^ At 8 p. m. the B*. Y. P. U. began which was very good. At 7:30 the pastor brought to us another spiritual message that, shall bpger in the minds of all who heard It. Selecting his text -from Luke > 8:37. Subject: "Regarding Jesus Through. Purely Human .Standards. After this wonderful sermon, we had 8 candidates foi Baptism whd were baptised by the *" Rev. Miller. CHURCH Rev. S. H. Lewis, Pastor Columbia, S. C., January 10-Sunday school at 10:00 a. m. with Mr. Young, our superintendent, at his postf of duty. After the lesson had been taught by tihe various teachers, Rev, Lewis reviewed the lesson beautifully. ' ; At 11:15 a. itn. Rev. Lewis preached a wonderful sermon to "nis hearers; His text wm taken from St. Matt. 11:5 This sermon was very soul-stirring. At 5:30 p. m.?Miss Rosanna Lewis took charge of the A. C. E, League. The topic for discussion was "Resisting Dishonest and , Vicioi^s Advertising." This topic was discussed nicely by some oi the members present. Next Sunday, January 17, Miss . ? Anna B. Lewis will have charge ol the program. The topic Ybr discussion will be ."Building Character Through Sclf-Denial." Miss S. E. Green, instructor of English at Allen, will speak to us. The Presiding Elder's' message was inspiring and informative.
