It has been my experience that the Southern lias .always given Negroes special consideration. Its the ony line where ~Negroes can purchase' reservation from any point in the South go ing .Norm, i hen too when clergy permits' wore used the- Southern was-the only line that would honor them, on the train when at junctions where tickets could not be purchased. It lead in reduce foi _ people traveling on Sundays and special- return trips. Its the only system, that 'advertises in Negro * papers. As the many annual con ? i'eronces, conventions Itnd grand lodge meetings are approaching we urge, that, Negroes do not for get the company that has been so 'i mfjulful of them. MANY UKQ( KSTS FOR WIUTfNG^ -While attending the official oper ' ing. at Columbia last week I wacohtaeted by the representative; of ,the "Afro" and The Pittsburgh Courier' anl a,skvd: to submit brief? from our State together witli an nual conferences and Grand Iiodgc reports, A special request was made of us to release matter in a "newspaper" that_i,s. to abort , appear on the journalistic sea. Wc shall endeavor to accommodate them as best we can. We need good and clean papers that will not accept publications from disgruntled people that simply breed strife. If a paper expects to grow in size and influence it will have to steer clear of such distasteful publication. The, Palmetto Leader grew from a four page to ar eight pa&e peoridictal because it refused to publish distasteful mat ter.
