Thet lesson was reviewed by the Supt., Mr. Holmaiw. At 11:30 Rev. Caughmun from New Brooklyn, preached a wonder ful sermon. Subject: "Striving for the prize." At 8:00 Rev. Dreher preached f a soud stirring sermon from Exodus 1:3. Subject: "Consecrated Hand." Although our pastor was sick it dicn't seem like it from the way he delivered the message. On the 20th of September Rev. Herring took charge ofl the services that morning during the absent of Rev. Dreher. . . Sunday might was our)-4 last quarterly conference^ The Presiding Elder pi'eached. Lewis, Pastor Not many were present at the Sunday School Sunday morning. . Nevertheless those who were ores ent seemed "to have enjoyed the lesson and especially the review by Rev. Lewis. At 11:15 Rev. Lewis preached a Revelation. - Quite, a number was present to hear this soul stirring sermon. The League opened at 6:30 with Mr. Webber in charge. The discussion was very interesting. It seems as though the young peo-' pie are taking active part. Next Sunday Misses Benzene Blocker, Kathleen Howard and1 Rosanna Lewis will have charge of the pro gram. Come out to encourage these young people. ' o - At 8 p. m. Rev. Lewis preached another wonderful "sermon, We are asking that you' come out each Sunday to our services. BISHOPS' MEMORIAL A. M. E. The brothers of-this church put on a rally among them selves and it was called Men's day 1 and they wrought well in their drive. Our men can do something -if wo ummon will get, behifd them and help push them on their way. The Rev. E. A. Moss of Aupjii^ta, Ga. was the ' promoter and he * preached a sotjl stirring sermon especially to thi^ men. We are always glad to have him ctome over ... . i i j /.J . and share "With us. Hughes Shelton of Winston-Salem, N. ,C. motored down to witness this rally and they responded 'highly in this rally, We are thanking them for their loyalty. On last Sunday it was a mistake in tthe printing of 1 the amount that was raised in 1 this rally and for a~correction, we are running it through again. The : total amount raised was $114.63; < the total amount $or the day was $164.40 and Deacon Talley Marsh won the prize by reporting the highest amount. C.?A full and glorious day was begun at 9:30 o'clock a. m. in a broadcast by our church and pastor at Camp Otcen through the facilities of the federal government. Comfort and consolation in the way of songs, prayers and a brief address were sent to tthe bed-sides of hundred? of patients who are ujnder the medical care of the government. Mr. J. W. Brogdon and Mrs Ollie Reynolds, organist, directed a most beautiful musical program with twenty-four voices in the choir. The morning's service began amidst the atmosphere of deep reverence and beautirtul floweis It was baptismal day and the svorshiping congregation was large ami enthusiastic. The subject ol our minister's .discourse was"Christian Baptism" taken from Galatians 3:27. This message mis intensely instructive and it's delivery was characterized with deep fervency. A beautiful climax to the morning's service was reached in the baptism of Jwo infants and ?one adult.. ThAjyirftual wave ran high upon tne consumption of this part, of the service'. Visitors too numerous to mention by names from within and without the city shared in the morning's worship and were made to feel happy and content. Upon the evening's service, there was a large attenance a: gain. Gathering in the spirit of deep reverence and worship, great blessings came again upon the congregation. "Divine Care" constituted the evening's message bv our pastor and was based upon the scripture founft in Genesis 45:7. Carefully and forceful this message was delivered and it's reception was with, joyous acclaims. Truly throughout the day's worship, the Holy Spirit edified the saints and sinners were made to think upon their way. A host <*? visitors worshiped again. Sunday afternoon we engaged in League services at which time we discussed the following subject: "Are We Reaching the Young peo pie of Today?" I think all present were benefited. Rev. J. J. Jackson our pastor feeling a little tired after his day's work at Norway allowed the local preacriI er to come before us and he delivered a soulstirring sermon from' the theme "Love". Our hearts were filled with joy as Bro. Arthur Hampton spoke to us. The Baptist church here has as their Pastor, Rev. Wells of Orango burg. We hope to cooperate as usual and . put over a great .program this ensuing year. Thev had a nice crowd out and reported hav ing splendid services. Mrs. A. F. Marshal and her son Mr. Walter Penda^vis have returned, to their home in Atlantic City, N. J., after a brief visit to relatives here and elsewhere.
