Witherspoon, Pastor.0 I he congregation had a rare .- treat at the?1] o'clock service on_ Sunday morning in the manner in ' which the service was conducted."" Everything from the devotionals to the benediction were carried out With such promptness" and dispatch that the late comers on arriving were surprised to' find -.the service almost over. The sermon delivered by the pastor was short,, but very enjoy-, able and all present agreed that the idea of shortening the service during the hot oppressive, period that we are now passing through - was one to be appreciated. We had our usual-, quota of visitorp, among them being young. Miss Margaret Bradford of New York City, a niece of Bro. W. I). Bradford of Morris Brown. Also My. Jeter Graham of Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. Graham has the distinction of holding the postition of captain od_ a company of the innaueipiua r iro uept. An at hiouamont tVint the- ran- can well feel proud of. The heating and air conditioning plant that hai boon in the pro^ cess of installation for several weeks was finally completed last week and was dedicated on Sunday afternoon with a splendid program and the trustees are to be commended on installing this plant which is-the last word in church heating system. The congregation can?alsji feel justly proud in the fact that M of ids Brown is the only church in the State with such an equipment. This fact being borne out bv a ren reseritative of the company a very enjoyable program was arranged - -and carried out^wilh^^the assis tpmyo 4-f tV?o~Innior Choir and with l i j i?: ~ ~ T ~ i? Hiiurv Muuresaen niaur uy Mr. John A. Harris of Mt. Zion A. M. E. church and Rev. B. F. Bradford, pastor ofl Wesley M. E. Church. A representative of' the Company was present also, and commended the pastor and trustees on the businesslike manner in which the transaction waS carried ooi t. One feature of the program was "the beauifuil solo rendered by Miss Ruth Gibson of Charleston and the audience was thrilled with her rich -soprano voice as she sang ^VQlpen the Gates of the Temple." Miss Gibson bids fair to become Bq of the country's leading so )36 pranos and that in the very near future. The dedicatory prayer by the pastor was also a feature. There were quite a number of visitors irom Summerville, S. C. who expressed themselves as being highly, pleasa. with the services. A collection was lifted and through the envelopes sent out and from what was laid on the tables the'sum of $107.08 was realized. The evening service was also well attended and the sermon delivered by Rev. Witherspoon in his masterful way, was enjoyed by all present. ?Mr, aiid -Mrs. J, A. Brown and family left on the 9th for Saluda, N. C. where they plan to spend several weeks, vacationing. We wish for them many happy e'ays in the cool N. C. mountains and a safe return when their vacation terminates. Bro. W. IX Bradford and family have returned from their trip to N. Y. City after a wonderful time with friends and relatives. Morris Brown paid it's last tribute of respect to Bro. Titus Ward one of our most popular leaders and a staunch supporter of the church and it8 program. Bfo. Ward had been ill for some time and finally passes into the great beyond on last. Sunday . 'morning.
