b Wedding
Brilliant Event
Of cordial interests to many
Columbians as well as other in and
out of state individuals was the
Wedding of Mrs. Thelma Juliette*
Rai.'ord to Mr. William Gilliam.
At three o'clock .Saturday afternoon,
August 15th, the home*
of the bride was made 'impressive
by beautiful piano music played
by Mrs. Yoimgblood of this city.
Miss Berntce" Raiford, the bride's
cousin ^dded much to the occasion
as she sweetly sang,. "O Promise
Me."
As the solo endiv. and .the bvida)
-chorus began, the bridal party entered
the room where the ' ceremony
was performed by Rev. S. S
Youn.gblood, pastor of First Calvary
Baptist church. Throughout
the ceremony, Mrs. Youngblood
softly played "Love Dream."

IDear Editor,
Please allow me space in this
week's issue to say a i( w things
Concerning the "Leader".
i have been reading this papei
over three years. I have found it
i to be one of the best Negro paper?
' that has ever been published in The
SoutlL I like this paper because
in jt we do not find only the "lowdowns"
of our race.
In most papers if a crime is
| ally printed on the front page in
large red prints so that it might
atttact wo?ld-wide attention. But
not sd with the "Leader". In the
? "Leader" Is found only cTean and
sporty news throughout..We should
be proud of our paper, and should
purchase one each week.
I put aside five (5) c( nts each
week for this paper. The "Leadv
er" is indeed a great paper. There
should not be a Negro m ISotrth
Carolina who should regret paying
$2.00 per year for a good, clean
paper of his race.
We should read more clean
L,, news; read more about your race.
B^Xet your motto be: "More Race
