Fathers' Day wtas observed at
Bethel Sunday and Rev. Watson
the pastor, delivered quite an inspirational
sermon to tht Fathers.
The church school convened at its
usual hour' with Supt., Durant at
his post of duty. Quite a bunch of
young folk were present and the
ltsson was timely discussed by the
teachers.
At 5 o'clock Rev. Jenkins, pastor
of St. John A. M. E. Church
accompaned by his choir and good
members came over and eltctrified
his audience with a wonderful
message from 1st Timothy and
third verst; Rev. Jenkins* is a
minister of much thought and is
very broad in his dealing with others.
A good collection was raised
The receipt of which wtnt on
Mrs. H. L. Jackson's club. Mrs.
Jackson and a few others are
working hard to raise their assessment,
wt hope this spirit will
be very contagious.
At 8:30 Mr. L. B. Gurley took
charge of the Fathers Day program,
those who did not attend
this txercise are minus of some of
these thirds that help make life
more ipleasant. For the solo, Mr
James sang, put more ptp in the
Fathers who doubted themselves
and they began singing betttr. As
a whole .the entire program was
very good. We also appreciatt the
fathers from our sister churches
that took a part on this program.
We must not forget to mention
the Btmocrats' dav the 4th Sun
day, sponsored by one oF- the
great pillows of Bethel church, Mr.
S. J. Rambert. We fetl asure
all states will come up 100 per
cent for Mr. Rembert knows no

The Sunday school opened at
the usual hour with Supt, Abram
Judge at his post. The lesson was
beautifully discussed throughout
the various classes, and remembered
by the pastor.
The morning service was . very
good, the text was found II Kings,
the subject; "Good iicws from' a

to a thirsty soul." Everyone enjoyed
the discourse very much.

The lesson was beautifully discussed
by all the teachers and was reviewed
by Mr. Joel Perrin.
At morning and evening services i
the pastor preached inspiring ser-1
mons. The sermons were care-1
fully prepared and masterly deliered.
We wish to thank the ministers
and their members who came to us
each night last week and rendered
service in interest of the missionary
society. If at any time you
need us we stand ready and willing
to render whatever service we can.

Mrs. Nellie King was funeralized
Sunday at 3:0*0 p. m. by her
pastor, Rev. Williams. Mrs. King
was 85 years of age and is said to
have been a life long member of
Weston Chapel, her husband havbeen
one of the founders of the
church. A host or relatives and
friends survive her. Peace be do
her ashes. The remain was Had
to rest at Sane All Cemetary.
The Junior Stewardess Board
postponed' its meeting last week
on account of the meeting at the
church each nihgt. A meeting has.
been announced for Wednesday
night at the parsonage.

10. The God of our Fathers was

erspoon, in a sermon well delivered,
and enjoed by the arge congregation
attending. Clhrist's
recognition of a father's goodness,
was unfolded by the speaker.
Mnny -striking illustrations of ~
God's goodness to the children of
men, were brought out during the
course of the splendid sermon delivered.
The Sunday school also
featured Father's Day during the
school hours. if!
.At 8:00 Dr. Witherspoon again
elpctrified his hearers with a scr
mon preached from St. Luke 19:9.
"Tho Salvation of the publican
Zacheous" was the theme stressed
in the message brought to a
large congregation. One person
vice, and another at night. The
rally closed at the evening service.
The collection was $46.75. The
Trustees Auxiliary presented the
trustees with a donation of $15.00
which was acknowledged by Bro.
R. Crawford. The Junior choir
rendered excellent service during
the entire day, and the day was
closed in prayer and thanksgivin
Many visitors were in attend-^
ance during the day; among them
was Mr. Jas. Pinckney from New
York- City, a former?member?of
Morris Brown, who was presented
and spoke briefly. The church regrets
the passing of Bishop W.
Decker Johnson. It is possible
that the pastor will attend the
funeral rites at Plains, Ga. on
Tuesday; the 23rd inst.
