THE SAD LIAR
i
First somebody told it
Then fche room wouldn't hold it
Until the busy tongue rolled it
And got it outside.
When the crowd came across it
They never once lost it
But tossed it and tossed it
Till it grew long and wide.
From a very small lie sir
Ttr grew deep~aTTd""trfgh slT"
Until it reached to the sky sir
And frightened the moon.
While head long they hurried
'Hie people they flourried
And trouble and .worried
As lies always do.
This lie brought forth oth'e(rs
Dark sisters- and brothers \
And fathers and mothers .j.
A terriblely crewt
Then so evil bolde<l
This monstrous lie golden
Until it exploded
In smoke and in shame; ?
'rfien from mud and from nvirers
The piecesr flew higher.
And hit the sa<l liar
And killed his good name.'
