Saturday, April 25, 1936 UNION BAPTIST CHURCH Rev. L. C. Jenkins, Reporter j Sunday school met at the usual at their post of duty. Tht? lesson was beautifully discussed thioughout the various classes. j Morning services began at 11 :.">0 j o'clock. _ After all. preliminaries, the pastor presented Rev. F. W. Penick of Chicago, 111. who brot to us a burning message. He se' lected his text from Romans 11:0G subject, "'The unseen hand of the ; Providenco of God." An invitation was extended for joiners and Misses Alberta And Marie Langley united with the church for baptism. At 6:30 the B. TV U. began. We 1 had a splendid program with Mr.' Elias Epps in charge.' At the evening worship, the pastor delivered a noble and powerful sermon. Reese., 1016 Pine St. The meeting was opened at 7 o'clock by the Chaplain, Mrs. Dora Cunningham. After the devotion al exercises the President took charge of the meeting. Ho says he had a very phasant trip. Mrs. Mary Raines has been indisposed for a few weeks. We wish for her a speedy recovery. TABERNACLE HALT. CHI RCII Rev. T. R. Tolbert, Pastor Sunday was a lovely day in our city and many church-goers various churches. Sunday; school opened at the usual hour with Superintendent Walker and hi.-4 faithful staff of officers and teachers at their post. Quite a large numher of adults as well as children were present. At the morning and evening seiv vice the pastor preached very interesting sermons. AlLwil0_hC&l'd thejn were greatly benefited. At the close of the evening service, the Pulpit Aid club rendered a very touching candle light service ? which ended in a pew,rally. The total collections for the day were ' $125.00. Miss Nettie Fox, teacher . in Highland school, Spartanburg. S, C., spent the spring holidays at home with parents and friends. ^ Misses Adel and Sineta Peterson spent Easter at home with parents and friends. Mr. R. L. Gillespie of Greensboro, N.
