A large number were out and We sure did have a fine lesson. The lcSson was reviewed by the pastor very beautifully. The pastor's sister, Misses Mary and Mabel Burton of Newberry were visitors. After Sunday school the pastor came before us with a burning message. And didn't our hearts burn while he promulgated the word of the omnipotent God. If you want inspiration please come to (Jhappclle Station. The pastor used as a subject "The Ressurrec0 tion of Jesus." We also had a fine Raster program. The churcih was crowded, during the exercise, We listened to a number of selections from the follow-, ing quartets: Zion Pilgrim, Sugar Leaf and others. Due to the illness of .our dear pastor's wife, Mrs.-_JL-AVC-~HopkiiUw-wo were clad to have Mrs. King from Zion Baptist Church to act as substitute pianist and teacher. C.?Very early in the morning a large crowd gathered at Aiien Temple to witness the pageant, "The Resurrection" which was carried out jiva beautiful and touching way. j.The pageant was given under the direction of Miss F. L. Lykes.. A large number of eager boys and girls as well as adults came out to Sunday school at 0:15 A.M. We had a very beautiful Easter lesson. The review by Rev. Adams was enjoyed by all. Our school is taking on new life, everyone is trying hard to be on time in order to get a gold star . No one wants a "Red Star" for being late.. Morning service began at 11:15 A.M. The service was very-impressive amid the elaborate Eas. ter decorations that made the ./church looked very ^beautiful. The v pastor delivered a strong message filled with the spirit and very time ly. His text was fpund St. John 14:19. He used for a subject "The Resurrection of Jesus, The Condition of Eternal Life". We had one to join, Mrs. Laura Simmons. She was made welcome by all. Again, a large crowd gathered at the church at 7:JO P.M. to wi.t tujys the "Easter Program" .by..the Sunday school department. The little folk played their parts well. The rogram was given under the direction of Miss Eunice Adams. The congregation and collections were good the entire day. ST. STEPHEN A. M. E, CHl/SCH ^ Rev. D. N. Wilson, Pastor The early morning prayer services were conducted by the Dea coness Board, sister Sibbie Alston, chairman. The Resurection sermon was nreached liv the Rev. 1. Sumter at 5:00 o'clock from St. Luke 24:34, The services were very impressive, the church being decorated for the day. At 11 o'clock the pastor reached a gosel Sermon from I Corinthian 15:20. Many hearts rejoiced. A very large audience was present all day. Many visitors were present. The son and family of Brother Robert C,ox were among the visitors present also several - friend* of this town. Brother Abraham Chandler and wife are back for a few days. He will preach for the Junior church, Wednesday evening 7:30 o'clock. The Easter program was rendered by the little folk at 4 o'clock elimaxed-hy an address from Prof, J, B. At 5:00 a. nr. processional, Rev. Lewis in his beautiful black robe followed by the Junior Choir in their robes, Stewardesses Hoards No. 1 and 2 all in white singing 'lie Arose." It was indeed a "-glorious time, that early part ol the morning. Our pastor selected for his text St. Luke 24:56, siihipr-t: "Kaster Messairo." Rev. Lewis preached as iu-ver before, and we all- were made to feel rood. The. holy spirit searched rom the pulpit to the door. The -funi<tr?Choir rendered excellent appropriate singing for the service. * i house. An excellent program was rendered by the tots which was much enjoyed; tin children all played their part, well and they were certainly in their beauty. At 8:00 there were hardly standing room in our church. Folks were sun standing.all around. At this period a grand program by the Junior Choir and adults was had; this was indeed a program long -to be remembered. The officers of the church expressed" themselves, saying the programs were tlhe host ever had in tht. history of the church. They commended Mrs. Ix'wis in the way the spared rvo time in preparing for the program. Every part was up to the .resurrection. The Supt. Mr. M. Britton presented Mrs. Lewis a . purse from the churclh. , They were so much pleased with ! her work, and the time she took in training.their children. Mrs. Nelson was responsible for the decoration of tho crosses and Mrs. Austin amd others brought flowers. 'Ilia? Easter rabbit visited the Sunday school and left every pu pil anil teacher an Easter egg. The bunny did not forget the pastor. .Anothur sermon was preached at 11:30 from John 14:0 "Because 1 live, ye shall live also." A large number attended League at the usual hour. At 8 p. m. the Sunday School presented its Easter Exercises. This program was well received: by an appreciative audience. Lewis, Pastor Special Easter services was observed at Bethel Sunday with a arge and appreciative audience at >aoh service. At 6:30 a. m. Dr. Lewis preached. Subject (The Resurrection of Jesus). This \Vas a very impressive service and very much enjoyed. Tho Sunday school service at 10:00 a. m. was dispatched in regular order and in keeping with the occasion. At 11:15 a. m. the occasion was more inviting it appeared by the throng of visitors, members and friends. Dr. Lewis preached a wonderful sermon on "The Reconstructed Temple" from the text found in St. John 2:19. A program was rendered by the children of the S. S. at 4:30 p. m. which was among the best ever rendered op this occasion. They nted only opportunities and your encouragement. A.t the League, 6:00 p. m. the young people, were highly favored with an address by Prof. Scott of Allen university which was very good. As a fitting climax of the day's service, a special program, Musical and Literary was rendered at 8 p. m. featuring this program were" the following subjects so ably presented by young ladies of the church, teachers in the city public school "The Significance oof Easter," Miss Ella Clyde Myers; "The Reand "The Relation - of Easter to~ Christian Religion," Miss Nerissa Mance.
