day
Iii kc i piiiRv \lith a cu-stoni that
has been followed ever since its
organization, the ?,Jefferson High
School's1 P. T., A.- celebrated
Founders' Day in its monthly
in cling last Friday. A very, delightful-jnogram
was enjoyed by
the. many members and visitors
present. The eighth and ninth
grabs, acting as host; presented
a mathematical playlet s"howitv?
how tluough songs and games
many <tf the "most perplexing problems"
of arithmetic should be made
to seem very interesting and, easy.
And how the modern teacher does
her bist to make her subject matter
as enjoyable as she possibly
can.
A very interesting address was
made by the principal, Prof. DM.
Zimmerman, on the history ot
the I': T. A.; National,i State Local.
Ho pointed out how through
the -interest of one parent in her
child's school life and develdpment
the idea first originated, and how
with the cooperation of other invrotod
parents the movement
p.ruKi-t'sseu. tie tncn discussed
tin; organization of the State
unit and how it has progressed
through its different stages of de
vtlopment. The most interesting
thing in the history of the lo<unit
as pointed out by the speak' r
is tlpit thitt pc.firiinij..n?trcrsheld
the State's banner ever since
its organization three years ago.
Another interesting feature of
the evening was the report of the
various units -on the fence drive,
the. association has undertaken as
its project this year to fence in
.me scnooi grounds. In order to
accomplish this a special drive
was started, and the membership
was divided into units. Each unit
having as its aim to raise the
highest amount through its chairman,
Mrs. Wright.
Mr. Tom Wright of WinstonSalem,
N. C, was a visitor 'at the
imoling of the P. T, A. He made
very interesting remarks concerning.
hi* School life many years ago
in tliis section. .
Much interest is being manifested
in the popularity contest being
sponsored by the faculty, which
will terminate With the presentation
of the faculty play the latter
part of March or very early in
ApriJ. Each teacher is working
hard to win the honor of the most
popular teachers on the force.
The students are showing quite
a interest in basketball this year.
The hoys' and girls' teams, even
though starting late in the season
have made a good showing
in all games played. Boys won
from McKnight High and Friendship,
losing to Emmett Scott. The
girls won from McKnight High,
losing^ to -Friendship. Both teams
are striving hard to put the
school on top in the basket ball
field. ?

Well it seems like spring have
arrived atrain for nil of our Sun~day
school and church ifVe rubers.
The Mt. Moriah ?Sunday?school was
opened %t its usual hour, by
Supt. Wc .had for our subject
"Jesus Teachers Neighborliness."
It seemed like every member and
teacher were at their best on this,
wonderful subject. It was outlined
by our pastor. After Sunday
school the pastor took his
place for our preaching service-he
took for his text -an outline based
on the subject of our Sunday
school lesson which was found in
-Sti?LnUo?10th chapter and?25th verse,
from this he brought two
very good points which* were
Jesus was the important character
in our life. And that He had
all of our keys' to Heaven." And
all who were not present missed
a very good sermon. There wore
two persons who joined after this
graceful s\rmon. The total col '
lection was $34.03. We hone that
every one will give a donation toward
the Mt. Moriah Community

Rev. B. F. Stewart, Pastor
Well ford, S. C.-?Sunday being
a beautiful day Sunday school was
largelv attended. Thn lpssnn woa
beautifully discussed by the various
classes after which the pastor
as usual pave a timely review.
Due to the fact that our pastor
has just recuperated from an attack
of the influenza, the Rev,
W. M. McMillen preached for us
throughout the day. His morning
message was taken from James
1:17; subject "Strive to do Good". '
His evening text was Acts 9:13;
theme, "Behold He Prayeth". Both
sermons were masterly delivered
and werd enjoyed by all. We feel
proud of this our own son who
willingly came to our assistance.
B. T. U. met at G:30. The juniors
led in the discussion with Mrs.
A. Sholton as group kader.
On last first Sunday night the
Sunday school and trustee board
gave a program. Several quartets
furnished excellent music. The
neat sum of $10.00 was realized.
Wo are now looking forward
with interest to the anniversary
held the Week-embracing the first *
Sunday.
