V i , INTERDENOMINATIONAL MINISTERS' ALLIANCE The Interdenominational Ministers Alliance held its regular meet) ing. Tuesday. March 10, 193Gat^ 12 _oAclock at Second Calvary Bap- i tist Church. In spite of the in- ' clement woather quite a number! of the ministers were present. It { Was decided that we turn the meet in<^ into a Forum. This proved to he so fascinating that it was necessary to extend the time. Many vital matters were thoroughly dis cussed. Every minister expressed himself, as having enjoyed- this valuable forum. At the, last meeting which was held Tuesday, March 3, 193(5 the Alliance was blessed with the prcs ence of many of the ministers. At Hw.e? ?;f?i being discussed. The ministers are not asleep to the-civic, social ami economic needs as wtll as-dw-spiritual needs of- our people. These ministers who represent all the churches of the city of Columbia are laboring for a New Deal far our peopwr- The President appointed scleral committees that are to work in the interest of the Alliance. The Alliance went on record endorsing unanimously a frhui brought to us by Rector M. C. Don aid that all the churches of our group' in the city come to the rescue of our brother minister, The Reverend. II. C. Young and his good people in their building program. That is Jones Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church. The Alliance is arranging a unique program ami demonstration to take place one night during the week after the prhird Sunday in April at which all the pastors and congregations are asked to come and show in a tangible way" that we all share this common cause. 'We want that this shall be one of the finest things that the churches of Columbia has done. We should share each others burdens. The morning services began at the usual hour, and the regular preliminaries were carried out. Tho1 pastor read for the scripture lesson fifteen verses of the sixth chapter of St. Matthew, beginning at the sixteenth verse. The one hundred and eight Psalms was read. This being the day for the | exchange of pulpits, we were ' pleased to have as our guest speaker, Rev. W. Ravenel, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church. A . powerful sermon was delivered by him. Text, Genesis Gth chapter and ,0th verse, subject "A Divine Friendship With God." Rev, Ravenel stirred the congregation with T1 this boautiful and uplifting sermon. Visiting ministers were, Rev. W. Y. D. Kiug and Rev. Robert Doctor. < Rev. F. C. Keels, secretary of education o? the Reform.- AI -F.Church brought' to us an interesting .evening which was gladly received by a large audience. The Sunday, school lesson was one of special interest "Jesus_ Teachers . Neighborliness," St. Duke 10:25-27. This lesson presented the parable of the Good Samaritan which taught us that n? neifrhhnrs Wo should livo in the spirit of Christ' teachings by doing good for our neighbors. Not only those Who live in our vicinity but every body. Our neighbor is all mankind and not a certain group. The play "The Devil in the Church" will be presented On Tuesday evening March 17. At 12:30 the pastor brought to us a burning message from Exodus 12:13. Every one seemed to enjoy it. our hearts did burn while he man of Ood spoke out of the fullness of his heart; then the Lord's Supper was administered to all believers in Christ. Sunday afternoon the Rev. J. S. Martin, pastor of St. James A. M. E. Church preache<l a wonderful sermon that will linger long in the hearts of his hearers. Both choirs, St. "James and St. Marks, rendered beautiful music, in interest of Mrs. 0.11 ie Kellers' Club. The collection was very good. We was glad to have so many visitors from different chinches to worship' with us. Come again you are welcome. We all were stirred np Sunday just at the close of Sunday school.
