CHRISTMAS AFFAIR
On December 13, 1935, the
Alpha XI Chapter of the Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority gave their
second annual danee in' Dukes'
Gymnasium, State College a t
Orangeburg. S. C.
The "Gym" was artistically dec-t'nmr
with red and whit e woven
about a cheerful'fireplace together
with trees representing the Greek
'ottpr organization cn the campus.
The following ycung ladies waved
their magic wand and changed
the trees, into a Gheist mas fairyland:
Alpha tree, Soror Lois
IcGhoe; Kappa tree, Soror Emma
Tane Dawkir.s; A. K. A. tree,
Soror Elouise Williams; Sigma
trae, Soror Marie Burch; Delta,
Sorer Maude Green; Omega, Soror
Mamie Thompson.
During t.he intermission, Soror
Louise Condol, donned in a white
satin skis costume, exhibited her
esthetic ability in an interpretative
dance, after which the Deltas
oi med their sacred bond around
the beautifully lighted Delta tree
and sang the Delta Hymn.
As Christmas was just around
lhe corner, Santa Clause (represented
by W. B. Calhoun) made
an early visit to add merriment to
such a gala affair, bringing sirens,
whistles, balloons, and crickets.
Amid confetti and love-tangle, the
glK'^t and "iS'Jllas paused?to-?heserved
by Pledgees, dressed in
Christmas costumes, with fruit'
cake and punch.
At the hour of twelve, the sweet
and soothing strains of . Reggie's.
Collegians told us that fhte parting
hour Had arrived.
The Deltas and local guests \vere
Joined in this gala affair by outof-town
guests from Columbia,
Charleston, Fairfax, St. Stephens,
Abbeville, Aiken, Walberboro and
Tuskpgee, Ala. .
