" ?_?J
Morbus Sabbaticusy or Sunday sickness
is a disease neculiar to church
goers. The attack comes on suddenly
every Sunday. No symptons are
felt. On Saturday night, the patinet
sleeps well, eats a hearty breakfast;
but about church time the attack J
comes on, and.continue until services '
are over for . the morning. Then the
patient feels easy, and eats a hearty
dinner. In the afternoon ho feels
much better, and. is able t<J~ take a
walk, and talk golf or politics. About .
and stay at home. He retires early
and sleeps well, and wakes up on Mod
day morning refreshed and able to
go to?work,?and does not have any
symptoms of the disease until the
next Sunday.' *
The peculiar features of the disease
arc-: . 1. It always attacks professing
church people, 2. The symptoms
vary, hut it never, interferes
with the sleep and appetite. 4. It
never lasts more than 24 hours. 5. No
physician is ever called in. G. It becomes
painfully prevalent and is.
alauhingly infectious. Makes no
friends of the inl'tfcted. 7. No remedy
is known for it except prayer. 8
t nless checked, it . always proves fatal
in the end to the soul.
