Last Friday and Monday afternoon
Meetings were held at Allen University
for the purpose of perfecting
plans for the participation by the
Negroes of Columbia in the aproaeh!
ing Community?Chest?Drive. The
meeting wre presided over by Dr. D.
' H. Sims, President of Allen University,
who is general chairman of the
among the Negro population.
Some weeks ago the management jpf
the Community Chest Drive upon tpe
suggestion of the Rev. S. B. Wallace
called' a group of Negroes into conference
and extended through them
an'invitation to the Negroes of Columbia
to iake part in the; Driyo,
which is=> a project calculated to aid
deserving community institutions
without regard to race or creed.
Since the Chest has always shafed li"

having made- any organized contributions
toward it, the conferees thought
it a splendid opportunity for the race
to share the responsibilities of tilling
