Two days later, early in. the. morn-1
?ing Miss Margarett was awakened by
Ola, by a frightened Ola at that.
"Why what is the trouble Ola?"
asked her mistress.

this house, strange things are happening".

and I peeped from my door and i-saw

not see that man leave the basement

No madam. 1 wasn't dreaminer this
time; because last night I heard a

the front". I came back upstairs I

Miss Margarett looked astonished,

they were..
"Ola, don't mention this to any one,
especially,- Miss Inna. Tonight, you
and I sleep in the blue room, if
Miss In-na comes down the stairs we

Miss Margarett was forced to be-lieve
the strange story Ola told her
although it was hard for her to believe
her beautiful Inna guilty of anything
so unwomanly. Here, was ? mystery
but-what .the mystery could Hp Miss
Margareett was at a pujszlo. Who
could tbe niarv?b,e she wondered. She
lufrw that Oin would not stoop to foil
a lie therefore therP was something
... to her story, anywhere it would bear
investigation, perhaps after all this
queer little beauty was doing "this in
order to teasP her and Ola.
The- day wore on,Miss Inna was her
usual jolly self, nothing unusual. hapTKo

mystery, the more she was convinced
that the other girl who called herself
Inna Treswell an impostor trying to
get an easy place to live.somewifhere
where she wouldn't have to work,yet
she didn't lookat all like a working
girl.shetoo was very refine spoke
soft -and cultured. Again and again
she read a copy of the will filed two
weeks before her brother's sudden
daath-and eespecially the part describtug
the sign of the fish-tattooed on her
brother's daughter's back, tattooed in
yellow, a golden fish Her Inna bore
Hot brother Edward,_she mused was
a queer fish even in his youth and to
think a man in the middle of life tatooing
a yellow fish on the back of his
_ ? daughter. Well he must have known
what he was dpii^g,. this was the only
way she could Tdfentify-her neice,
but any way why didin't Edwaard

and send her, then she would be sure.
