Hawkins was conducted from Bethel
. A Jf F. church, Columbia. S. C., on
last Monday afternoon, Xo say that
the services were hitih' class in every
respect is speaking truthfully. Those
? taking part in the services were" acknowledged
leaders in their denominations
and in their chosen professions
It was indeed a fine funeral. But the
character in,.whose honor the services
were held was one of the best women
ot the Negro race. Truly a great]
woman has fallen. This was evidenced
by the tremendous audience that was.
present. As a Christian and church
member she ranked, among the best.
As a faithful missionary she led the :
fest. The funeral program was well
arranged and carried out. Well pre-1 i
pared music was rendered by the^l
church choir. A solo by Mrs. Smith ; i
and a selection by the Juvenile depart- !,
ment were certainly befitting tributes
