Thp Approaching .Revivals
k, " - ' :' ' " '., ' - '
In a lew weeks from now aril of the
churches in the lifial distract; will b
engaged in. a series of moorings. Some
call them Ixg incd.riga", some pro-1
traded, some revivals'and utpers re-j

no disposition to disagree with- either

' my impression has been taut

more big frolics than anything else.
The sinners in the community look

, - The church members look-forward
to these meetings as gi cat occasions
for meeting old fi'iends and relations
of which the clima^-wTit^he-hTg-eat.and

financial income to him,. and that is

1 result is, no-revival is had, no souls
are saved, no least is enjoyed and
but very .little money received. God
knows we need a Holy vGhost revival
in every church in this country," ami
every true child of God shuold be interested
in the same. Tl^y?should
earnestly beseech God iii prayer and
in fasting to revive the works oi
grace in the hearts of men. TtuTvTe
not concerned .about our own sons atid

' this, wicked generation? It is almost,
a sin for the churches to call togeth-;
er crowds of people every night front
August to October, with praclienliy |
no interest-whatever, ms tu their itnmortal
souls. . It .would bo far b.ttj!.
to call these meetings oil', and let I he 40
people stay at home. In so doing
they certainly would-not be -given a
chance to do mischief at the expense'
of the church meetings. But it is all
right to have meetings. In them we
should have many accessions, not
merely to our several denominational
' churches but to the kingd-111 of God.
In order to do this, these meeting's
must be made .revivals and'not simply
big meetings or frolics. Mow' a revival
is not preached down or shouted'
. .. .down,, but prayed down. It doesn't
come by accident or by mere chance,
. but by r prayer; The" price to I re pa :d
is prayer and consecration. And. any
church can have it that is .willing tx>
puy the price. The clrareTuJs-sTfou 1 d

such, an awakening. The Christians
* should start a prayer meeting' in their
homes around their fire sides for ;v
peiit'ecost of the apostolic type to
come upon the churches* The burdens'
of heedless sinners ,-hould rest
upon our own hearts and souls. And
_j-' . like our bles?ed Redeemer, we should
weep, that they might weep.. I claim

but_judgment?ifcself My prayer i>
: that'the World will witness a revival
indeed during these many meetings
that are about to be launched. To
this end let every Christian work,
watch, fast and pray."Things
Somewhat Discouraging
-We pray not to be an "alarmesf
"and we plead our ignorance as to the
outcome of the farmers. But in some
sections,, things are far from being
encouraging.?I believe, huwuvor, that
when the government crop inspectors
submit their report the country will
be made to feel good over the healthy
conditions. There are s .me goo.I
crops in places that will warrant such
. a report.. But I have witnessed, some
very sad scenes among the farmers
?? iiv this, atate. I have seen whole farms
that have been given~iTrr~gnth-fi-iy by
those who started them. And on the
? other hand I . have soon farmers tojling
in their fields, hungry, half clad,
with no food in the?barns for' their
horses and nothing the pantry
for themselves. And the worse of
