. ^ The Twelve Apostles Were Well
' Trained,
To justify themselves, there are
some ministers who claim that the
first disciples of Christ were igno- i
rant and unlearned men. Now, I
know that those men were by no
means looked upon as scientists or
------ ? ; as philosophers, but if any man thinks
a that the Master sent out ignorant men
? :?tu preach the gospel, they ai'e wae- .
fully mistaken. In the first. place;
m - those men that Jesus called to follow
Him had occupations and. positions
that ignorant people did not occupy. .
Can.an ignorant man collect taxeS-2_.

One is called to serve .the age in Which ,
? he lives and our calling is to serve
this present* age, The disciples were |

which they lived. Then you^must rer j

J.esus in preparing men to preach

agree that no set oi men throughout
the world's history were better pre

__ .. Theological Teachers as well as Theological
Seminaries are in Demand.
We can hear on all sides the great
need of theological schools for., the
. with an ounce of common sense would
,? dare argue'to the contrary. For God
, inows we need/a trained ministry lind
we must have some place where tfus
training can be done/ V-^ut brother,
I v a new ..theological building will not
do the work. A school with a the.ologi'
cal course in name will not suffice. Our
? ; fore we carr have a theological school.
It has been recently shown that science
takes -a man as "far away from
God as theology takes him to God.
So these subjects are- contrary* the
one to the other. Therefore these two
~~ ?men. cannot teach theology and avoid
. .a disagreement and possibly escape a
. , fist fight over the sacred subject. We
must have theological teachers before
we can have a theological shool.
A theological department could be
easily built up in our various tot
leges if a sufficient number of qualil
fied instructors, Vjould be secured to
-1-w do work. 'There are many col"
lege men, who would return and take
up theology i?,onybody was there to
give it. I have never understood how
my dean can teach me how to succeed
with a Metropolitan station, when he
is a faliure on a mission. Nor do I
know^what arguments I can get from
? him lu entertain?leading mngregations
when he himself cannot,interest
a prey^r meeting band. Xheological
schoqls without theological : teachers

"Study,"' the Watch Word of the
Ministry. . .
The minister of today will have to
study if_he^expepts to be respected
by his vffellowmen. This refers, to

qualification, the gospel minister will
. have to study if he would keep a-breast
of the age. Buy good books and
. magazines ahd read them, Go to.
great gatherings and listen to fine
speeches and lectures. Visit the class
/ rooms in schools and colleges and hear
?; 1 the tiiffldy Instruction on the part of
the professor and teacher, and thereby
add to your store, iionse of knowledge,
and you will be greatly helped.
