Deception?Its Met!
., / REY. ALBERT
xkksk~XK^~X~X-X~XK-X-XK-:*
The deceitful person carries a knife
with a blade on both sides. He may
not always cut the individual against
whom it is drawn, but he .is sure to
cut himself. The self-delusion of sin
?s its greatest danger. It makes on?
feel that he is safc;. when he is not
ife. It makes one feel that the
wrong can be successfully hiddqn. It
makes one feel that darkness can more
< - successfully cover that that is wrong
than the daylight can. Gad has so arranged
conditions in this life, that sin
cait never be succesfully hiddenr
Oiie con often go along and pat him
self on the shouldler and imagine that
he is safe in the use of deception, but
~iive in an age when lying is just as
common as the leaves on trees are.
The heart of man., in' its manifestatiomsy
is- one of,?the most interesting
studies as an indication of its dnward
condition, its deceptions 'would put
over a program that would upset the
' most.of the good .that mankind attempts
to do in this world.?
Jhe practical liar is a dangerous inn^ite^eptinTi-m
to get your confidence. To do this he
~ will sp rTd "money on you. He will,
if he can, tie.- your hands with gifts.
He will wink his eyes at another
_ while he -is giving you these gifts. Af
ter he Has succeeded in rocking you to
sleep in the cradle of deception, then,
Judas-like, he" goes out to meet the
gang and tells them all that he has
found out about you.
The greatest misfortune that can ;be
fall a man or a woman in.this life is
, 'to give your heart confidence to a
?practical liar. To make the thoughtless
man or womaa open up, he us
ually comes to you and tells you of
his past life. He tells'you "how many
sheep he has stolen, of how he has
^fooled others, of what he did by night
that he was afraid to do by dky.v All
. ~ of this he pours into your ear so as
nnn gtntr?irtpn? from Vnn
that he can use against you. Sometimes
he comes to you to discuss some
individual. He wants to locate" the
?. condition of "Some man or woman. If
one has -enough sense*'to hold his
4 peace you are safe, but if you say just
one word to that man or woman, you
are gone. ' * ~
Just as there is the love conscience,
. so there is the deceit conscience, the
place where deceit, fraud, and lying
are brought forth.
- : There are those who spend almost
all of their life in trying "to succeed
by deceiving -others. The exnerience
of others who, have failed in this,
~ seeimv mot to make- any?serious impression
on them.
I am dead to the man or woman who
has ne ednfidenee-?I can be -of
no possible service to such a one. If
it's a preacher, his message is use~
less . It rt's a teaeher, his or . her instruction
Ts useless. Sq truly is it a
fact, that the death ofLconfidence - in
me is" the end of my usefulness -with
those whom I have deceived. ? ?
..The praticed deception of our times
in our religious workj is one of the
greatest drawbacks to the work of
the church in this age. The world
sees the deception we practice with
each other. It sees us laughing in
each other's faces and then trying to
cut each other's throats as soon as we
separate. It sees us doing all we can
to blacken each others's good name
with lies for which we have no proof
whatever. After all of this, it seee
us'get up and tell-them that we aru

When it comes to murdering helpless
women, there are. elements in our
group that take the cake from any
I the other groups. There are. men
in our group whose only profession is
o go from one point-to. another and
endeavor ?o deceive and- destroy -our
holpless women; These agents of
hell regard this as a great accomplishment.
They set around in barber
shops and pressing clubs and boast of
iheir accomplishments. There is no
America that produce more such men
than can our group.?No - women in
the world have had greater advantages
taken of them than have the women
of our group. -The woman who
values her character makes a mistake
. today to believe thata he can play with
deceptive men. She makes a mistake
iri fooling herself into the belief that
deceptive men will keep any secrets
for her. Thousands of TFQr girls have
ruined their chances for life by toying

" So it our young girls allow low down,
worthless-men to have access to them,
they must pay the penalty of exposure
for their folly. The pictures
that are painted of some of^ our girls
of whom we have a right to expect
better things, in many of our pressing
clubs and barber shops, have forever
destroyed their chances in life. No
thoughtful man who takes life serious
and who wants to succees, could marry
any woman about whom men talk as
