On Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock,
the Baxter - Raul wedding was held
at Bethel A. M. .E. Church.

holidays away but returned Sunday
and reported a joyous Christmas.
Mrs. Melvin Jones returned to her
home in. Anderson after spending the
holidays with her mother and sisters.
Emancipation ~ ^
This year the Emancipation Celebration
suppressed those of old times for
many reasons. Never was there such
a line of automobiles'of .various makes
which served to take the place of the
Old horse and wagon, but as the line
moved slowly we saw the horse and
well decorated and added to the gayety
of the occasion. We also had as
the orator of thio' day our own son,
the Rev. A. F. Horry, Pastor of Mt.
speaker took for his subject "The
Acid Test" which instructive words

one hour. At times the speaker had
to' pause until the thunder, of applause
had seased. Three short addres
ses were made in interest of a new
school-housfe by Messrs. A. F. Woodbury,
C. S. Browne and A. Q. Dunmore j
