The accumulation of cases upou tho Docket

his Honor Jiul^u Wardlaw, appointed for the
26tli. of February next, the week before our
regular Term.
Various lengthy and closely contested eases
occupied, the greater portion of the pnet wr.ck.
An indictment for obstructing n neighborhood
roud in the lower part of the District,
engaged the Court for nearly a day, and resulted
in a verdict of "not guilt}-."
Tne caso of Robinson vs. Hawthorn, was
one involving long mutual accounts runninc
"buck for several years and resembled uioro a
case ill Equity (linn a suit at law. The I'laii.tiflf
obtained a vcrdict for about$3R0.
McCracken vs. Ingram was a cuee of alleged
breach of warranty of Roundness in the sale
of a negro. The verdict was for tho Defendant.
McCelvoy vs. Noble, Ex'r, was* suit brought
to charge the guarantor of n note, und the
defence relied upon was the. failure of considation
fbr the gcr'arHnly. which wae forbearance i
to pue. The'plaintiflf obtained a vcrdict.

is an eloquent divine.

His character as an able Divine, and
ready and eloquent speaker, lias given him a
