J commencing in October. 18fi7, was taken up for a third reading. This Kill had b?>en amended by the Senate ou the second reading, in several particulars. Three (intendments were stricken outbv the House of Representatives on the third reading, and Rome additional appropriations inserted. The matter of difference between the two ITouReP, were in rehition to an appropriation of $fiOO to the Klliott Soeiety of Natural Science, $5,000 to the South Carolina Institute, and $3,000 for printing and distributing certain Registration Hunk*, and $400 for the "Carolina Tribute to Calhoun." A Committee of Free Conference was appoint* ed on the part of both Houses, to adjust these matteraof difference. These committees agreed to recommend, for the concurrence ol" both Houses, the following : $500 to the I'.lliot Society of Natural Science, $5,(11)0 to the South Carolina Institute, $100 for the printine and dirtributing of the Registration Rooks, and a Resolution that tlic Legislative Librarian be authorised to sulwcribe for 25 copies of the "CarolinaTribute to Calhoun."
