NEW HOPE
New Hope, Sept. 25.?We are still
having cool autumn weather, which is
fine for gathering the crops. Good
many of the farmers have sold cotton
but we think it would he well for
the farmers to hold for better prices.
According with the other prices of
food stuff cotton should bring a high
price to compete with everything else.
The writer attended a community
picnic last Friday in the Faueett community
at the new pump station near
the school house. Must say it was a
fine picnic with everything good to
cat and the people of that community
are certainly interested in their community
by the results of this picnic.
A bountiful table was spread with all
good eatables besides a pot of fine
hash. There were about 200 that gathered
at this place for the picnic, which
is certainly a beautiful place to have
a picnic since the new pump station
has been built there it is a beautiful
scene. The grounds have fine flower
beds and the water scene is very pretty
and, too, among the trees are electric
lights and we know it must be
very pretty at night. We understand
that at this place they have moonlight
picnics also. Had with us that day
several speakers in the afternoon.
Miss Alsie Smith spoke to the ladies
concerning the country clubs which
will aid them in building up the community
more. Also Mr. Carson Davis
is superintendent of the Sunday school

school hours, which is doing line work.
We hope for them much success. .
The time won't he long now until
the fairs will take place and we understand
that a good many of the communities
are going to have community
fairs. This will help build up the community
more and we hope for a fine
county fair.
Miss Martha Lee Fowler attended
the picnic last Friday in the Faucett
community.
Miss Etha Gallman visited .it the
home of Mr. and Mrs. II. M. !Vvknell
Sunday.
Mr. I.ahon Long of Gaffncy is visit- j
ing in this community this week.
Mrs. G. J. Bishop visited her moth-j
er, Mrs. Amanda Little, Sunday.
The community meeting will meet
it the home of Mrs. T. J. Rishop next i
Friday. October f>th, and all members
ire urged to be present. Vero.

TANLAG'S SUCCESS
DUE TO REAL MERIT
Hot Air Will Put a Balloon

IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE
But Success is Impossible I'nlcss
There is a l)ollar-for-l)ollar Value
Behind the Article Advertised.
This is an aye of advert i-itie. and
everyone is familiar wth the popular
sayinjr, "It pays to advertise."
Advertising is a business force. So
potent is the char>i cast by its spell
it has been known to perform marvelous
feats and to accomplsh phenomenal
results. It cannot be truly
said, however, that everyone who advertises
succeeds, for unless full value
underlays the article advertised, the
advertising would ultimately fall of
its r Jim woiorhf T n f hie nn?^nootiA?
we must not forget the words of the
immortal Lincoln, who said: "You
can fool some of the people all of the
time; you can fool all of the people
some of the time, but you cannot fool
all of the people all of the time." So
if there is not behind every advertisement
a dollar's and cent's value to the
article advertised, no amount of advertising
will stimulate the sale on
such an article beyond a certain point.
This applies to every line of business,
and the modern business man or firm
can only succeed through honest advertising
and far dealing.
Hot air will put up a balloon but
it won't keep it there. So, when the
manufacturers of Tanlac placed it on
the market something over 2 years
ago, they did so with the firm conviction
that they were offering to the
people the best and purest product of
its kind on the American market today.
They did not hesitate, therefore,
to expend vast sums for advertising,
because they knew that the more the
people heard about Tanlac the more
they would buy it. The success the
preparation achieved was immediate,
and people everywhere were quick to
recognize its genuine merit.
Tanlac has never been advertised
as a "cure-all' 'or that it would perform
unheard-of wonders. The advertisinp
has been clean, straipht-forward
and conservative. Actual facts and
figures have been stated and stated in
a business-like way in a manner that
has commanded confidence in the conservative
claims set forth. Under |*ing
these claims there has been real
value, not from a dollar's and cent's
point alone, but from health as well.
And that's just where Tanlac has
scored. And that's why it ns here to
stay.
