JONESVILLE Jonesville, Auk 14.?Our company of Coast Artillery left last Thursda> morning for Charleston. The company was going into camp on Sullivan's Island. There were more thar el hundred men in the company of healthy stout young fellows. Six of them were young married men. There was a large crowd of people gathered at the depot early Thursday morning to bid the boys farewell and to giv^ them a parting hancr shake. The la dies gave the boys many lunches foi the day, while fruit and melons wen also in evidence. There is no dange of the boys suffering for something t< eat. Wives', mothers' and sisters tears flowed freely during the parting sobs. Oh, how it carried my mine back to the morning I left Union with my company on the Kith of April 1861. The occasion was much the same, not quite so many weeping wives on this occasion as there were on the former. I made no effort to restrain the silent tears as they, trickled down my furrowed cheeksfor I am sure that I realized the sen-' ousness of the occasion. They are visiting relatives in Jonesville and will visit others in Union, Gaffncy and Landrum. Our soldier boys of the Coast Artillery that left here last Thursday landed safely in Charleston the same day. and are quartered in the Fort MoulJ trie barracks and are satisfied ancn doing well. The evangelistic meeting closed here Sunday night after 15 days here and at New Hope. Evangelist Kinard is a good talker and is a man of a clean record and he preaches the Bible pure and simple. Justus, the preacher in charge, is a lover of classical music and he is much pleased with the meetings he has lately held at Jonesville and New Hope and he hopes to have a good meeting at Bogansville soon. The Baptist association is to be held here the last of this month. Friendship is a strong factor in keeping people together and promoting good will in this world. I feel the force of friendship all along these hard times and were it not for that friendship I would consider life hardly worth. living. 1 Mr. J. L.
