Sparks has returned from New York. Soon new fall and winter goods will be coming in. Mr. A. W. Snyder is visiting friends and relatives in town this week. Notwithstanding the hot weather there was a very large congregation at the Baptist church Sunday morning and evening. Our neighbor, Mr. Bobo, has a new Ford, and we are looking for an in- i vitation every day to go to ride with > him. Mr. and Mrs. Sam McCullough are < on their vacation. t Mr. Wallace Carrol of Spartanburg < was on our streets Monday, shaking hands with his many friends. 1 Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Everybody is through work and are taking trips and everybody most is besy canning and trying to prepare for winter, which I think everybody is doing a good share. Our soldier boys from Jonesville left for Charleston Thursday. They think they will be in camp" there for ?ome time. There was a host of friends and relatives to see the solliers off. All sympathy was for the aoys and all hated to see them leave, aut all seemed to be very brave, though the scene was a new sight for as to witness. As this feeling about war exists with everybody we all late to see the boys leave, not knowing where they will have to go, but we hope with all good cheer that times will be better and that peace will soon prevail throughout our land. But if we have to face war we hope our solliers will all be brave and true, for the ones they leave behind will do their part in working to help win the war. Every effort is now being made for the benefit of the Red Cross. Ijots )f credit can be given to Mrs. Clifford for her good work to the Red Uross work. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Scott had vistors at their home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkins an<f little laughter of Cowpens motored down n their car Sunday and visiter relatives in the community. Mr. J. L.
