was held at Gilead church Sunday. I
There are eight schools in the l)is-1
tricl and they were all represented.;
There was a Rood program tendered |
and quite a number of Rood st eeenes
were made. It was certainly a Rood
convention, many beinR in attendance
and a Rood dinner served on the,
ground by the Rood people of Gilead.

secretary. It is the purpose of the j
president to hold three more conven- j
lions durinR the year, one each qnar- !
ter.
Dr. F. M. Ellerbe, captain of the
Coast Guards company here, is expecting
to Ret orders for war soon.
The company will go to Fort Moultrie.
Mr. Clarence Davis, one of Jonesville's
citizens, has moved to the knitting
mills at Spartanburg. Mr. R.
W. Davis, father of Mr. Clarence!
Davis, who has been living with his,
son for several years, did hot gtt with
his son to Spartanburg but will live
with his sons near Jonesville.
Farmers are getting rather blue
over the long continued rainy weather,
so it is not necessary for me to tell
my readers of so much rain and the I
high price of food stuff for both man
and beast, for everybody knows these
facta of their own personal experience.
Mrs. Eliza McNeace, formerly of
Union but for several years a citizen
of Denver, Colorado, has been South
lur Hume time, visiting relatives and
friends, left Jonesville last Thursday
for Roanoke, Va., to visit her son, Wallace,
and after spending some time
with her son, she will go on to her
far-off home yi the Middle West.
Mr. A. S. Calvert of Abbeville county
spent last week in Jonesville with

Chamber of Commerce and I was much 5
pleased -and entertained at the busi- t
ness of their meeting. They gave me t
a cordial welcome and made me feel e
very much at home. Several papers t
were read by special committees on
various subjects touching along from c
Fort Sumter in April, 1861, to the pres- v
ent. This chapter of good ladies is s

One more word I will say, the good
adies of that church spread out many

I am in sympathy with the bereaved
amily of Mr. Paul Vinson, who died
