have been a few beautiful days, after
so many cloudy ami rainy ones. We
like to see these line days of sunshine;
it puts us in the mind of spring time
and makes a fellow have the spirit of
get-up in him, but it is rather out of
its season and I fear as an old saying
goes, we will have bad days for these
pretty days we are having now.
Well, everything is moving along
nicely, I believe, but the auto is about
to be put out of business. The roads
in the red sections are getting had.
If the split log drag could be used
always in time over the roads it would
help keep them in fairly good shape.
Today is the day our legislators go
lo Columbia. I guess some of them
have some new bills to pass. That is
generally the case with most of them,
with no reflection on any of the members.

are enforced.
I read of the deadly weapon beinp
used. That pistol seems to he used
iust the same as it ever was. Is there
not a law? Yes; hut it does no pood,
as it is not enforced. There are others.
There is a law that should he
amended. Where a man steals a hop
or horse or cow or anything he should
work on the chain panp until he has
paid the cost of the courts and the
man that lost the stolen propertty pet
his pay also, and as the law is now
the man that loses the stolen property
pets no pay. Don't you see the point?
The State should make the stolen
property pood. I don't want to be
misunderstood. What pood is it to
me if I don't pet the value received
from my stolen property? It mipht
only relieve a little prejudice 1 mipht
hold apainst the thief because he is
servinp a sentence on the panp. hut
that doesn't pay the loss of the stolen
property. The man oupht to pet pay
for the squandered pronertv. it donsw't
make any difference what it is, whether
it be merchandise or anythinp else.
The way the law is now the man
that loses the stolen property pets
nothinp.
Messrs. C .J. Parks and Joe Parks,
who lived a few miles west of Jonesville
on Mr. J. D. Jeffries' place, have
moved with their families 'o Mr. C. O.
Allen's farm in the Elford Grove section.
The neople of Elford Grove section
made Mr. J. S. Thrasher a nice little
nresent, which was a gift to him.
This was a sum of $12.00 for his
Christmas present. Mr. Thrasher also
crave many presents also to the Sunday
school children at that place.
This eood man is doine a crood work
at Elford Grove in conducting a Sunday
school at that place, in which
everyone is well pleased.
Miss Ethe] Oossett. was married to
Mr. Haskell Wade during Christms'
holidays.
We hear of so many petting married
and going to get married. It will
take too much space to write all of
these, but I will mention one T heard
of today, lust got married and most
everyone knows him. This is Mr.
Giley Lawson of the Pearidge section,
who lives near Kelton. He was married
to Miss Tjula Foster. Mr. Lawson
is a good man and a lucky marl
to get married as this is his fourth
wife. He has our congratulations.
Mr. and Mrs. Vandine Fowler have
moyod from this section to the New
Hone section.

returned from Abbeville, where th<w
have been visiting Mr. W. C. Edmonds'
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Ij. Gault of Great
Falls spent two davs during Christmas
at his old home to see kindred and
friends. His time was limited and
so he returned to his place of business.

REPORT OF GAME WARDEN.
Mr. W. W. Hames, county frame
warden for Union county, has received
a report from A. A. Richardson, chief
frame warden for the State ,showing
the collections from this department
for the year 1916 to be $44,7.10.08. In
1912 the department showed the total
collections to be $1900 for the entire
year. This gives some idea of the
growth of the department during the
past four years. The surplus, over and
above the needs for carrying on th'work
will aggregate $10,542.50 which
goes to the schools of the State. The
treasurer of Union county has received
a check from this fund of $.107.50 last
week.

Regarding the truly wonderful results
