We are having delightful weather now as it is much cooler than the past week. Most everybody now is attending the meeting at New Hope. Will not have any services today as all the men will go to Union to campaign speaking. Miss Bertie Alman of Tampa, Fla., spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Becknell. Will visit other friends to relatives before returning to her home in Florida. Mr. B. W. Whitlock visited his son, Mr. C. W. Whitlock, of Batesburg, last week. Mr. Mack Bishop has returned to his home in Jacksonville, Fla. Miss Florence Scott of Columbia is the guest of Miss Martha Lee Fowler. Miss Mattie Belle Sprouse and Miss Bobo of Sedalia is the guest of Miss Sallie Whitlock. Miss Sara Hughes and brother, Mr. Archie Hughes, is visiting at the home bf Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Scott. Mr. Jeff Bro\vn had quite a narrow escape from harm Saturday. As he was going over a bridge near his home a plank in the bridge broke. Neither he nor the horse were hurt. Mrs. Hodpe has been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was a pood Christian woman and a kind mother and was loved by all who knew her. She had been sick for some time with a complication of diseases. She leaves three sons, all married, and many other relatives and friends. The funeral Services were conducted at the church by Rev. R.
