I JONESVILLE
Jonesville, Aug. 8.?The deady body
of Mr. Pottus Lancaster was found
early last Friday morning in a pit less
fthan a hundred yards from whero his
hat was found the morning he was
missing, about two weeks ago. It will
be remembered that Mr. Lancaster
had been out from home and had left
a neighbor's house about early bedtime
for his home about a mile away
and not coming home his people went
to look for him and found his hat
near a branch. The circumstances following
have already been published
in these columns. Last Friday morning
the dead man's brother was passing
near the pit in which the dead man
was found and he casually looked into
the pit and saw the brother's body
floating on the water, face downwards.
The pit had been dragged when the
young man was first missed, but there
was an opening back under the bank
on one side and it is evident that the
body was back in this place when the
pit was first dragged and afterwards
floated out. The coroner held an inquest
but there were no signs or indications
of foul play or robbery and
I the family connection are all satisfied
that there were none and that the
1 young man got lost and bewildered
and fell into #the pit into the water
which was about ten feet deep and
j was drowned.
The farmers got a few days' work
last week, but their work is much behind
