William Dickinson, a negro 82 years (
of age, stated that he had worked (

liquor was drawn off through the
pipes ,which were first discovered,
and was sold on the spot. William (

Carolina and had helped around a 1
still all his life when he came to this J
city to help with the still in question. 1
The tank was discovered in the rear ?
of the Argyle building, near Broad
j street. The pipes ran toward the <
j front of the building and, from their '
j size, were capable of carrying quite

Jacob Astor, who was rescued in the
Titanic disaster in which her husband
perished, will he married at her
country home at Bar Harbor, Me., at ;
an early date, probably on Monday,
to William K. Dick, a wealthy sugar j
refiner of Brooklyn.
By contracting this marriage, an- j
nouncement of which today came as a >
surprise to all except the closest
_ friends of the couple, Mrs. Astor re- ^
linquishes the income on a trust fund
of $5,000,000, bequeathed to her by
Cel. Astor in his will "for so long |
duiing her natural life as she shall
remain my widow." Under the terms
of Col. Astor's will this money will
revert to his son, Vincent Astor. Similarly
the Astor Fifth Avenue town
house and its contents will becom1
Vincent Astor's property.
Mrs. Astor is 24 years old, about
five years the junior of Mr. Dick, 1
who is a member of an old Brook- 1
Jyn family, a club man and a direc- 1
'lor of several banks and industrial
concerns. Mr. Dick and Mrs. Astor (
have been friends since childhood, f
when both lived in Brooklyn. They
have been engaged, it is said, about
two months.
Mrs. Astor, formerly Madeleine
Talmage Force, became in 1911, when '
19 years of age, the second wife of (
Col. Astor, then 4(5, n.any times a '
millionaire, head of the Astor family (
