Mrs. I. L. Bobo left Union for Asheville
Thursday of last week in response
to a telegram from her son,
Mr. P. C. Bobo, who wired for her
because of the desperate illness of
his wife.
Mrs. E. F. Spears, who has been
critically ill, is reported to be slightly
improved. Prof. J. T. Spears, her
son, was called home to her bedside
before the close of her school term
and has been at her bedside ever since.
Rev. States A. Jolly, who has been
attending Furman University the past
session, spent a few days this week
in Union and left Wednesday for East
Flat Rock, N. C? where he will, with
his family, spend two weeks visiting
relatives.
We received a letter this week enclosing
renewal of subscription from
Mr. Joe H. Coleman, Allbrook, Ark.
Mr. Coleman, in his letter, says that
corp prospects in Arkansas are in a
very promising condition. Rains in
season have not been lacking and con- ditions

if the present European war will only
stop, prices will soar.
Mrs. Jacob Cohen and family will
leave the first of July for a visit to
her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Emanuel
in Baltimore. Before returning to the
city Mrs. Cohen will visit relatives
in Philadelphia and New York city.

a visitor in the city this week.
