AN ORDINANCE o h Granting Special License by the City ? of Union, S. C? for the Fiscal _ Year Beginning May 1, 1914. * Be it Ordained by the Mayor and B, Aldermen of the City of Union, S. C., * in Council assembled and by author?- , ty of same: * Section 1. That the following Special License Ordinance is hereby adopted and Ordained by the City Council on the 13th day of March, . 1914, for the Fiscal Year, beginning Mav 1st, 1914. That every person, firm or corpora inn i- " , ?iiKaKcu in or engaging in any trade, business or profession herein- . after mentioned within the limits of the City of Union, S. C., shall upon engaging in said trade, business or profession on or before May 1st, 1914, first obtain a license from the Clerk and Treasurer thereof, upon the order of the Mayor, and all license* hereinafter mentioned, shall be nontransferable, except by written per- . mission of the Mayor endorsed on said license, and per annum, if not otherwise specifically provided, and . all said license, and per annum, and all annual licenses shall expire on the 1st day of May, 1915. Any license may be revoked at any time by the Mayor or the City Council. Sec. 2. Every itinerant, trader or person (except licensed auctioneers) offering for sale or attempting to sell by sample within the City at public outcry or otherwise, any goods, A ware, fancy articles, spectacles, jewelry, pictures, notions or other articles of like character or kind shall pay in advance a license tax of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) per ** da>. Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) per " week, or Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per year, and no plea of ad- " vertising or selling for any person, firm or corporation of the City of Union, shall relieve the said itinerant, u trader of person from the payment of said license. ... t> oec. o. nivery itinerant pnysician " or vendor, seller of medicine, patent ? or of his own make, or practicing as an itinerant his profession or calling shall pay a license tax of not less B than Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day or Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per week, and no plea of advertising or selling for any person, firm or corporation of the City of Union, shall relieve said physician, vendor or seller from the payment of said license. Sec. 4. Each dray, carriage, bugg\, Bi automobile or other power vehicle, and each hack for public hire, conveyance or transportation, shall havv B< a number thereon and the driver of such vehicle shall keep that number B exposed on such hack, dray, carriage, buggy, automobile or other power vehicle, and every driver thereof shai, w wear a duplicate number in a con- I spicuous place. All public drays, hack* carriages, automobiles or other power vehicles or buggies, horses or mules, n" or harness, etc., shall be subject to 81 inspection anywhere and at any C time within the corporate limits of the City of Union, S. The above flections in reference to inspection and charges shall E apply to the owners or managers of Livery, Feed and Sales Stables, who ahall run drays, hacks, carriages, bug?es, automobiles or other power vetles for the use of the public for M*e, under the provisions of this Ordinance.
