have returned to their respective
institutes of learning. The school
here began this week and both teachers,
I'rof. Jayroe and Miss Marilla
Brooks, were back from their vacation
ready for their duty.
This clear cold weather that this
week started in with is good for people's
health, but it proved to be the
death of quite a number of hogs. But
almost everyone who has hogs, complain
that they hard to fatten
this year. Perhaps they are on a
strike too.
In looking over the "Want ads," in
papers, why do so many men say,
"No cigarette smokers need apply."
That seems very significant, doesn't
it? That seems to be a sort of
weight hung to a man that hinders
him in his race for business.

in our citizenship this year. The
readers will remember that we have
gained one family, Mr. Russell Jeter,
lately of Columbia, but we will lose i
the family of Dr. L. H. Thomas, as

on the hill at the old Methodist parsonage,
in the house of Mr. R. J. Jenkins

For two weeks we had some bad
weather, and there was consequently
a damp time on Christmas, but I am
not writing of Christmas because
that is out of date and the New Year
is five days old at this minute?lacking

to do, I have only two days to do it
in. You see I have made a New Year
resolution and that it to take a retrospective

a "run and go." If I do this I might
get my business neck broken, so I

scramble out on the other, or try. To

But going to business, all farmers
ought to form resolutions to operate,
and get things better, not to cooper
ate to the farm of a trust against the
consumer, but as regards their own
operation of affairs at home, as to the
management of hands for instance.
Not as to not giving good, honest,
wages, but to have strong cooperation
in firm methods and requirements
of soil saving and soil building,
this is one thing the average cropper
does not want to do though, it is as
