JONESVILLE, Aug. 12.?The do* day .showers have given Jonesville the go-bye, for it seems that most every section is getting more rain than we are. Cotton is doing fairly well, but corn and gardens are suffering for rain. Mr. Barth Hughes, who lives just over in Cherokee county, had a shepprtl flon* that Kit hie 14.voar-Al/J o on the arm, several dzfys ago; it also bit one or two hops. The hogs were killed, and the son carried to Columbia and examined, the doctor did not think there was any danger but he was given the treatment. The boy is a lively, cheerful little fellow. Mr. Arthur E. Hedgepath is quite sick at this writing. Mr. Joe James, of Wolf City, Texas, is visiting friends and relatives at Pacolet and Jonesville. Ariail commenced his protracted meeting: for the summer at Bogansville Sunday. Rev. R. S. Truesdale, of Trinity church, Charleston, is assisting him in the meeting. Rev. W. H. Ariail filled his pulpit here Sunday morning. Protracted meetings are being held over the country now at most of the churches. Capt. R. W. Scott has received his appointment as postmaster and has filed his boud for the office for the next four years. The office has been a third class one since the 1st of January. Miss Susie Collins, of Hualack, Md.f and Miss Ollie Noble, of Federalesburg, Md., have been the guests of Mrs. J. W. Lipscomb for several days. They left Monday for their homes. Miss Oharlinc Orande, of Atlanta has been the truest of Mrs. J. W. Lipscomb for a few days and she left with Mrs. Lipscomb Monday for the northern markets to buy a stock of fall millinery. Miss Ix>na Hedgepath, of Durham, N. C., is visiting relatives in Jonesville. Misses Marie and Elizabth Littlejohn are on an extended visit to iriemis at Kind's Mountain, N. C. Rev. R. S. Truesdale and family, of Charleston, are spending the week at the Methodist parsonage. Mr. Marvin Ariail, of Graniteville, is visiting his father's family, Rev. W. H. Ariail. Mr. C. M. Harris and leased by J. A. Farmer. Mr. Harris carried no insurance, but Mr. Farmer carried $750 on amusement fixtures, including a merry-go-round near the building which was burned.
