FARMERS INSTITUTE 1
TO BE HELD
There will be held in this county 1
farmers institutes on the following
* dates and at the following places:
Jonesville, August 18; Sedalia, August
19; Sunnybrook Farm, near Duck
Pond church, August 20. There will 1
be present practical farmers in the ^
demonstration work, and experts t
from Clemson College to address the ^
iarmers on suDjects relating to tneir |
every day work on the farm: These B
institutes are held in the interest of j
the farmers. The salaries and ex- 1
penses of these men are paid by the ?
tax payers of the State, and the *
farmers owe it to themselves to at- j
tend these meetings, and derive all
the benefit possible from hearing the f
lectures. These men are public ser- |
vants, anxious to serve the farmers, j

men are enciuea co ue encouraged
when they are endeavoring to per- *]
form a public service that is filled f
with si much promise, provided that
the farmers will simply cooperate by
attending the meetings, and seek in- *
formation by asking questions that *
will be cheerfully and gladly an- *

gratifying to know that the preju- 1

ers against scientific men is passing y

men. It was the scientific man who *
discovered that leguminous crops are a
able to take nitrogen from the air *
and deposit it in the soil, and save *
the farmer the most costly of all 0
fertilizer ingredients; it was the
scientific man who made it possible
for us to overcome to a large degree

use of hog serum; it was the scien- j

a seed com that would give a great- I

ful selection and breeding; it is to jj
the entomologist and plant patholo- ^

plant diseases are destroying our
crops; it was scientific men who invented

improved implements for the prepa- 8
