LONG PRISON TERMS FOR CONVICTED DYNAMITERS President Ryan Gets Seven Years. Several Other Officials Get Six Year Terms?Lightest Term is Over a Year?Defendants Will be Quickly Taken to City in Kansas. Indianapolis, Deo. 30?Sentences varying from seven years in the federal prison at Leavenworth to a year and a day and suspended sentences today were imposed on thirty-eight labor union officials convicted in the dynamite conspiracy cases. The prisoners receiving the prison terms will be taken to Leavenworth probably to nignt. Frank M. Ryan, president of the International Association of Bridge & Structural Ironworkers; residence in Chicago; headquarters Indianapolis, seven years. Herbert S. Hockin, acting secretary and treasurer of the union, six years. John T. Butler, Buffalo, N. Y., first vice president, six years. Eugene A. Clancy, former member of the executive board and former business agent at San Francisco, six years. Olaf A. Tveltmoe, secretary of the Building Trades Council, of California, six years. Michael J. Young, Boston, member of executive board, six years. Phillip A. Cooley, New Orleans, member of executive board, six years. rrank Webb, of New York, six years. J. E. James Gonney, Chicago, former business agent of local union, suspended sentence. Edward Clark, Cincinnati, fo. .ner president of local union, a confessed dynamiter, suspended sentence. James Coughlin, Chicago, former business agent, sentence suspended. Frank J. Murphy, Detroit, former business agent, sentence suspended. Motions Overruled. All motions for new trials and the arrest of judgment of the 39 labor union officials, convicted in the dynamite conspiracy cases were today overruled by Judge Anderson. Then turning to the prisoners the court stated that it was more difficult than he expected to i*each the degree of . guilt in each case and asked if the men had anything to say why sentence should not be pronounced. Silence greeted the question until Patrick P. Farrell stepped before the judge. "Something might have been said in your behalf that was not said," interrupted the court. "It is a fact that you were not in sympathy with the dynamiting campaign," Farrell replied in the affirmative. Denies Guilt. District Attorney Miller told the court that Farrell was one of the least guilty of all. James Cooney of Chicago, -old the court that he never had n . written a letter about the dynamiting plots, and said he did not know why .McManigal testified against him. Miller told the court that McManigal's evidence was corroborated by three witnesses. The court stated it had been told that one of the defendants told an officer of the court that if all the iron workers who had knowledge of the dynamiting weie caught, the jails of the country will be filled. He further said he had not reached a decision in Cooney's case. Scene in Court. The court after sentencing the men read from the bench a statement in which it was said: "The evidence shows some of these defendants guilty of murder, but they are not charg cu iicre wun mat crime., The court cannot punish them for it." There was a remarkable scene in the court room, in the struggle of the wives of the prisoners to reach their husbands. All the spectators were cleared from the room. The prisoners were permitted to talk to members of their families. Some of the men plead; others wept in the arms of their wives. McManigal, another confessed dynamiter, was not sentenced this time. Move on Now says a policeman to a street crowd, and whacks heads if it don't. "Move on now" says the big, harsh mineral pills to bowel congestion and suffering follows.
