Janie Sumner has recovered from a
severe attack of la grippe.
Dr. Herbert Smith, of Pauline,
was here a few days ago on professional
business.
Mr. Furman P. Began returned
Monday from a visit of several days
to relatives at Sunshine, N. C.
Miss Mary West has been quite ill
for several days but is now somewhat
improved.
Messrs. Lonnie Hyatt and Johnnie
West went to Spartanburg Mon

Miss Annie Lee spent a few days

been ill for several days, is now able

Mr. J. F. West went to Spartanburg
Wednesday on business.
Mr. Oscar Lancaster, of Union,
spent the week-end here with relatives.
The Parham and Gist schools
opened up again on last Monday
morning. Miss May Charles is in
charge of the Parham school and
Miss Vera Charles of the Gist school.
It is owing to the hard work of trustees,
Messrs. D. C. Gist, C. C. La no
caster and A. B. Lancaster, together
with the co-operation of County
Superintendent of Education Thos.;
H. Gore, that these schools were
able to start up again.
Rev. F. 11. Poston has installed a
telephone in his residence in -the
last few days. It will only be a few <
days until Mr. W. H. Lawson, proprietor
of the West Springs hotel,
and Mr. Charles D. Bogan will ha*|e
their 'phoneeput in. Messrs. Henry I
and Hayne P. Smith will also probably
put in 'phones shortly.
