I
The pretty days we are having |
now are l>ringing about a cheerful \
looking condition of alTairs here "T
among our people. Around nearly x
every home the soil has been ?
plowed and preparations are being *
made for gardening and flowers. X
The prizes offered by the mill
company are bringing about a great
deal of l>eautifying of the grounds i x
and houses. We are glad to see 4
such going on.
The bright sunshine Sunday
brought out a good number to the ;
churches. Every Ixuly seemed to be 1
aware that it was Clod giving us a t
beautiful day in winch to serve 4
Him.
The meeting of the missionary 5
society of the Baptist church Sun-1 }
day afternoon was a great one in '
many respects. The faithful few (^
who had been working and praying ?
for others to come and join them 4
i had their prayers answered when 1 J
some eight or ten other young J
women came and went to work ?
with them. There are now eighteen ^
of them and each one seems to be -j
filled with a burning desire to work 4
for her Master. They have gotten ?
out what they call a missionary ^
! quilt and at their meeting yester- 1
day had realized ?24.SO. The quilt ^
is not completed yet but by the ^
1 time that it is completed they hope 4
to have raised ?40 for missionary '*
I purposes. ;
The little Sunbeam Band is also i
doing a nice work. They were or- j
ganized the first of the year, and ?
up to the present they have raised j ~
i for missions. 1<
The Methodist church workers i s
are also making great progress, t
They have a splendid Sunday
j school and good attendances at all t
: their different meetings. *
I Quite a number of our people are
sick with measles. It seems to be {.
| a hard little pest to get rid of. 0
Minnie Woods is quite sick here j,
j at the home of her father, Mr. ^
John Woods, and has been for f
i several weeks. | e
The new stores at Monarch are 1 (]
j proving a great convenience to the (
! people. The price to get to Union r
i and back can be saved and they do r
! not have to wait until a convenient '']
| day before making their purchase, '
! it can be gotten in a few minutes. | v
This is just the thing we have been 1 j(
wanting to see for quite a while. (J
