who have been on the State constabulary
force, stationed here
have been transferred to Spartanburg:

Hayes, of Spartanburg have been
sent here to take their places.
The changes were made the first
of this week.

a short while but even at. this, he!
has won the respect and esteem j
of the people of I'nion. Mr. M. L.j
Wiggins was here with Mr. Whitmire
and is well known and much 1
feared by the tigers of this terri-'
tory. lie is an excellent officer!
and Union is sorry to lose hini.j
However the new men hold a1
good reputation for skill and fear-j
lessness. and they, no doubt, are
amply able to handle the liquor i
situation. There is ample opportunity
for exercising the skill i
here, though their fearlessness
will never be taxed, since the tiger
set here is a prety cowardly gang.

Small Blaze Friday Morning.
Last Friday morning early the
waste house of the Fxcelsior mills
was destroyed by fire. The cotton
stored therein was removed, so
only the small frame building was i
