It is a strange i and woeful tiling that so many people have developed the had habit of fi dosing themselves in season and our s of season, morning, noon and night, n l.et them have the least pain ot ' ache, let there be but tin* -lightest twitching of a little finger's end? and away they run to the nostrum 11 b.ittle a a Mi I ,L? a. lie. tl,?1... 'I'll y i?eli<ve in forti- s. fying tie mselv - against every pos>:h|e foe in the gui-e of disease. The a: Aethonian- had erected an altar to 11 "an unknown Hod." This they e; did after they had exhausted all < tie ir ingenuity in inventing names f< r, and making images of their di- (' vinities. They seemed to think w they might have left out -onie one or something. And t<? he on the lr, safe side, the unknown, the possi- * hie, eomes in for a share of honor, and so, an altar is erected. So it is with many people. They dose ? for all diseases they have ever had, j and then put in a lick or two against some unknown malady that may Ik* threatening. What makes us do ai i.;_. ?i. 11 .. i ~ 1 c i tin.- tiling. ii.MMi, si mt\ i ?;n i ii;i mi, 1 a habit l?orn of ignorance, fear and p< a morbid imagination. The sick- tl ness is largely imaginary. tl Instead of getting at the ti question from a reasonable point of si view, we go upon the supposition n that all medicine is good for all dis- si i iecs, and this, too, before we know p what i? the matter with lis or wheth- * er there is anything the matter. In- a stead of looking earefully to our p way of living?the unreasonable 'I hours we keep, the gormandizing n we engage in, and the incompatible foods that we mix together?we put (' our faith in a medicine bottle. It n is a ease where "a little learning is si a dangerous thing." If we knew < ] nothing about such matters, we ? ; would then consult a physician and c< thereby get the benefit of hi-knowledge and training. Many a man has slept in a room with windows > and doors bolted and barred. The sweet, fresh air, life-giving and healthful, has been shut out. The f( poor victim grows thin and pale, f, He f. ars that consumption is work- c i ig upon him. Away he goes for t' cod liver oil, or any other thing that t some one Happens 10 veeommenu. 1 One open window, costing not a cent, would be the best medicine in the world for him. Hut, then, that costs nothing, and this a grievous fault. People are crazy for that which has a big price put upon it. We suppose that a big price necessarily means a sure cure. Medicine is a good thing in its place, no t doubt, but it is a fearful thing to form tin-drug-taking habit. Leave _ the giving ??f medicine to skilled physicians. Look well to your habits of living. Keep the mind five from brooding and worry. Fresh air, sunshine, wholesome foods in moderation ? these are the things that go to maintain the health of the body. Think pure thoughts, Jive a good life. Think less about self and more about others. If these ideas could take deep root in our hearts there would l?e less call for the ever ready medicine bottle. There is nothing that gives as much contidenee as square and fair dealing with the public. We do not use any form of fake schemes in our business. We have never lowered the art of piano building to the mere level of a money-making traffic. We have never sacrificed tone, quality and perfect workmanship for expense. We have never made cheap pianos and never will. The reputation of our pianos has been gained by merit alone, the standing of our firm by business integrity.
