Town of Union, S. C., for the
Fiscal Year, Beginning
May 1, 1906.
Be it ordained by llic Mayor anil Aldermen of
the Town of Union, S. C., in Council nsscmblcd
and by authority of same:
That every person, firm, company or corporation
counted 111 or intending to engage in any
trade, business or profession hereinafter mentioned,
within the limits ot the Town of I'nion,
shall tirst obtain a license from the Clerk and
Treasurer, and nil licenses herein mentioned slial
be non-trnnsferable except by special permission
from the Mayor or Town Council, said license
l?eii?j? per annum, if not otherwise especially provided;
ami all licenses shall expire on Mny 1,
1IMJ7, but may be revoked nt any time by Mayor
or the Town Council.
Section 1. No person, firm or corporation
shall be engaged in, prosecute or carry on any
business, occupation or profession hereinafter
mentioned witho it first receiving from Town
Clerk and Treasurer, upon the order of the
Mayor, a special license therefor,-to wit:
Sue. 2. livery itinerant, trader or other person
(except licensed auctioneers) offering for sale or
attempting to sell by sample within the town at
public outcry or otherwise, any goods, wares,
merchandise, fancy articles, spectacles, jewelry,
pictures, notions,or oilier articles of like character
or kind, shall pay in advance a license of not
less than ten (flO.UO) dollars per day. fifty ($."?(!.00)
dollars per week; or three hundred ($:ltui.(K>) dollars
per year.
Skc. 3. Kvcry itinerant physician or vendor or
seller of medicine, patent or of his own make, or
practicing as an itinerant his profession or calling
shall pay a license of not less than ten ($10.0(1)
dollars per day or fifty ($oU) dollors per week.
Ski:. 4. Kvcry person or persons peddling or
selling within the corporate limits, fruits, poultry,
vegetables, butter, eggs, or other like art eles
of produce, shall pay a license of thirty ($30.00)
dollars per unit tint, Provided, that this section
shall not he held to apply to sellers of produce
and like characters raised on farms in Union
County, S. C.
Skc. 5. Kaclt and every dealer or company retailing
fresh meats, sucfi as beef, mutton, pork,
lislt or oysters and the like shall pay a license of
seventy five ($75.(10) dollars per year and shal|
have a fixed place of business, and said dealer
slutll not he permitted to sell from any other
place.
Skc. (i. Knch and every dealer or company relailittg
fresh meats, such as mutton, beef, pork
and (he like, without the privilege of selling fish
or oysters, shall pay a license of fifty ($">(1.00)
dollars per year, and shall have a fixed place of
business, which said place shall be mentioned in
the license, and said dealer shall not be permitted
to sell from nny other place. Provided,
hat section five of this Ordinance shall apply (o
persons selling any of the aforesaid kinds of j
meat in quantities of not less than one quarter of i
the animal. Such person or persons desiring to
sell by the quarter shall first apply to the Mayor '
for a permit. Which shall be granted upon the
filing of an affidavit selling forth the following
facts: 1. The name and address o. the pcrs-ot
proposing to sell. 2. That lite animal or ani
mals to fie outcncrea was horn and raised on or
upon ilie farm of the proposed vendor. 3. That
the meat to he offered is in sound and wholesome
condition.
Upon making said affidavit, the Mayor shall
issue an order to the Clerk and Treasurer of the
