,r. Dear Sir: If it took 10 gallons to
2(j paint your house last time with somo.
body else's paint, and takes 8 with
al Devoe, we -save you $8 or $10; for
painting costs two or three times as
s. much as paint.
ie Mr. Ezra Rathmell, Willinmsport,
Pa , always used 11 gallons of mixed
' paint for his house; Devoe took 6*
But that isn't all; that's only first
cost: how long will it wear?
' #The paint, that goes furtherest in
covering, wears best too.
2 All paint, true paint, and full^
measure, are on one side; part paint,
false paint, and short-measure are on
(lt the other. What can you expect?

Lockhart Junction last Tuesday after
a long illness of dropsy. Mr. Vinson
was 08 years cf age and had
been rpiite a stout man. He served
all through the Civil War in Company
II. 5th S. C. V., This company
was known as the Pea Ridge
Company and it did much hard
fighting in many hard battles of the
war. Mr. Vinson was also a member
of Camp Boyd No. 921 U. C. V.
Ono by one the veterans are passing
I away.
Rev. E. It. Harden, a student of
Wofford College, preached in tho
j Methodist church here yesterday
levtning. The sermon was tpiite a
pleasing one, as Mr. Harden had
the entire attention of the large congregation.
John K. Rush, of Midway,
Tennessee, has been in our town fur
several days looking after some

brings from one and a half to two

stock of Milliner's goods for the
spring trade.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lipscomb
have returned from New York where
thev bought spring goods fir the J.
J. Littlejohn Go , Department Store.
The traveling men commonly call- j
ed drummers are here every day in
great numbers and are selling our ?
merchants plenty of goods on all
lines. Goods are higher, but this is a
natural consequence, as goods must
keep apice with the price of cotton.
A litt'e over a month henci and
we will hold our annual municipal
election. There is some little talk
about a ticket and while there is no
pay in any of these offices from outside
talk it seems like there will be
two tickets in the race.
Saturday seemed to have been
rather a field day for the blind tigers,
dispensary patrons and cider tipplers
for it is very evident drinks got too
much mixed, which made somo [
people "big around and high up. " t

Thought She Was L,ost.
Last Thursday night quite a sensation
was caused by little Gertrude Ilenry, an
intelligent school girl, failing to put iu l.er
appearance at her home on Church stied,.
Foul play was feared as she did not oome
home with the other school children.
At night when Mr. and Mrs. Henry
came home and not finding little Gertrude
they began to enquire among their i
neighbor?, and nothing could be earned J
ae to her whereatjouts. f
The neighbors became alarmed and a #
search was made. Men and boys hunted I
on every hill and in every hollow, but I
all was in vain. Next morning a tele* *
phone message brought the news that .
the lost child Jliad gone home from .
school, with one of Mr. John Craw fold's
children.
