ETTA JANE ETCHINGS.
i New Church for the Mt. Moriah
Neighborhood. A Large
Sunday School.
Etta Jane, Jan. 25.?Your correspondent
has a codv of uRemini?
fences of the Civil War" by General
John B. Gordon. This book conains
465 pages and is written in just
inch style as General Gordon talked
vhen he was with us in the flesh.
Be gives elear, full and impartial accounts
of the great battles and miliary
movements in which he was engaged
during the great Civil War.
Bis personal observations are noted,
ind his sources of imformation are
traced to their most reliable fountain
leads. Those who have heard Gen.
Qoidon lecture have a good idea
>f the book. Many of the incidents
be makes mention of in his lectures
ire reproduced in this grand work.
There are a good deal of colds and
ither complaining among our people
just now. Several cases have developed
within the last fe* days bordering
closely on pneumonia.
Several of our York county neighbors
went to Union last week to trade
for mules. They think Union is the
best mule market in this section of
the country.
Farmers are beginning to feel better
about their wheat crop prospects.
The last few days it has been coming
ip and in many places good stands
ire to be found.
The citizens of the Mount Moriah
neighborhood are building a new
church at the Holmes grave yard,
near the home of Mr. Jesse Mabry.
They call it Rehoboth, and they ex*
>ect to have it dedicated on the third
Sabbath in April. It will be a

Baptists and Presbyterians. Mr.
lohn A. Harris, of Gowdeysville, a
irst class Christian gentleman, is
ireasurer of the building committee,
rod he is pushing the work with all
>ossibl# speed and we hope those of
rar readers who are friendly to this
irork will send him such help as they
san. It will be gladly received and
>roperly applied. For a long time
here has been a desire to erect a
)1ace of worship at this point but
iot until last summer did it take
ihape or the work begin.
At the meeting of the North Packet
8. S. Convention last fall the
Sabbath schools at that place revorted
ninety-seven scholars repreenting
the different denominations
>s well as non-profesaing Christians.
Mr. John A. Hemes .is superintendent.
Hon. William Jeffries, who
was present at the time, said: "I
knew Mount Moriah church when
old Mrs. Dawkins taught a Sunday
school there with only seven or
eight scholars. Now to think of
ninety-seven scholars there?what a
great chaDge." Yes, it is a great
chango, ana if our people will now
take advantage of the situation that
Dumber will be still further increased
within the present year. We hope
this casual mention of facts will have
its effect and lead some to come to
the support of the building committee
with such help as they can give.
Rev. W. H. White will preacn at
Salem the first Sabbath in February.
Farmers have dono a good deal of
plowing, much more than common
for this time of year. They will
plant all the cotton they can possibly
work this year and try to get rich
next fall. Nobody expects cotton
to be less than 10 cents in this
country any more.
We have had an unusual dry winter
so far this season. Very little
rain has fallen here since last June.
Our free schools are all in operation
that expect to be this winter.
There are a number, of aspirants
for offices in this county. By the
time the dogwood blossoms get out
the field will be full of them.

COUGH WAS STOPPED
And Have Had No Return.
Hon. Ben F. Townsend, Attorney at
Law, says:
I had a cough and tried several socalled
"cough remedies," none of which
did me any good. I got a bottle of
Lorenz's Cough and Cold Remedy
FROM
Holmes' Pharmacy
and after taking a few doses my cough
stopped and have had no return of same.
Since then I have bought several 25c
bottles and given to my friends, knowing
that it was a CUKE of coughs and
colds.
Mr. W. R. Briggs, living on Virgin
street, says: My daughter had a cough
which caused me great alarm. She had
tried different cough remedies which
did do good. I bought a bottle of Lorenz's
Cough and Cold Remedy at Holmes'
Pharmacy, gave a few doses to my
daughter and the relief was surprising.
It is a pleasure to recommend to my
friends.
ANOTHER DELTGIITED.
Mr. W. I. Going says: My children
bad whooping cough and the coughs are
still distressing. They kept me and my
wife awake nights.. I bought a bottle
of Lorenz's Cough and Cold Remedy at
Holmes' Pharmacy, and since the children
sleep ail night. It is a comfort in
our home. This Cough Remedy stands
on a pedistal to itself on its own merits.
E. A. Stokes, an old Confederate veteran
of Union, declares; I recommend
Lorenz's Cough and Cold Remedy above
all others and I have tried many. Besides
getting immediate relief myself, I
gave it to my daughter who bad not
siepi ror nights from constant coughing.
After taking one night has had no cough
and slept well. This Cough Remedy
stands on a pediatal to itself.
Seeing Crooked
is iibont as had as not seeing at all. To
the distorted vision the things of life
must seem ugly and misshapen, and
what was intended to be one of the
greatest pleasures is turned into a nightmare.
It is not necessary to suffer thus
if you will consult practical opticians
such as we are known to be. We can
overcome any defect or distortion by
means of properly adjusted glasses. Tou
should not fail to have the matter at>
tended to at once if you are so afflicted.
No charge for test or examinations.
