Nothing is quite so distressing as to

make you think that he is a professional.
Every dog lias its day, but there are
dogs that richly deserve thirty days
and costs.
If you have it in for a druggist, the
tray to get even is to buy all of your
stamps of him.
Naturally baldheaded men think that
football is a foolish game.
Strenuous health culturists who live
on one meal a day would be applying
to the humane society if they had to.
It might be a surprise to some grocers
to lenrn that there are sixteen ounces
to the pound. ' '
It Is all right to lock the door after
the horse is stolen, for who would want
to lose the new horse before getting
acquainted with him?
It is human nature to spend 75 cents'
worth of time getting a fifty cent pass

Important to Know.
Oh. maiden with the dreamy eyes.
You're nice to look upon.
But can you bake a wholesome cake
Or kitchen garments don?
To bask within your sunny smiles
Is really quite a treat.
But are you crude on cooking food
And mixing things to eat?
In parlors bright or at the play
It's sweet to hear you sigh;
But. getting round to solid ground.
Pray, how are you on pie?
A Suggestive Came.
"They were feeling so good wheii
they captured the seven horse thieves
that they slopped to have a game under
a big tree."
"You don't say! What game did they
play?"
"Seven up."
Quit Your Meanness.
Put the hammer in the locker;
Hide the sounding board likewise;
mi/ urn; tan ue a KnocKer;
Any one can criticise.
Cultivate a manner winning.
Though It hurts your face to smile
And seems awkward in beginning;
Be a booster for awhile.
Let the blacksmith do the pounding;
That's the way he draws his pay.
You don't get a cent for hounding
Salnt and sinner night and day.
Just for solid satisfaction
r>rop a kind word In the slot.
And I'll warrant you'll get action
On your effort on the spot.
Kindness every time beats kicking;
Mirth la better than a frown;
Do not waste your time in picking
Flaws with brothers who are down.
And it isn't so distressing
if you give a little boost
To the man the fates are pressing
When the chicks come home to roost.
Yes, tlie old world would be brighter
If you'd kindle frlenduhip's flame
And tints make the troubles lighter
of the man ngulnst the game.
Send your grouch on a vacation,
fJive your grumbling tones the shake,
And with grim determination
Throw your hammer In the lake.

A Witty Scot.
At an auction sale In a Scotland village
the auctioneer was trying to sell
a number of domestic utensils. Including
a porridge pot As usual he was
making a great fuss. Finishing, his
keen eye caught a well known worthy,
the beadle, standing at the back of the
crowd, and he shouted out:
'Mnifter McTavish, make an offer for
this pot! Why, It would make a splendid
kirk bell!"
"Aye," replied the beadle, "if your
tongue was in it!"
John Bnnyan.
The bill of Indictment preferred

liunyan hath devilishly and perniciously
abstained from coming to church to
hear divine service and Is a common
upholder of several unlawful meetings
and conventicles, to the disturbance
and distraction of the good subjects
of this kingdom, contrary to the laws
of out'sovereign lord the king." lie
