A petition is being circulated here,
.sking that the freight depot and
hifting yards be moved to some
loint wiiere the danger to life and
he inconvenience to pedistrians und
ehicles will be lessened. At present
nuch Of the shifting is, of necessity,
lone over the track which crosses
ilain street. The constant passing
>f people and vehicles, while trains
ire being shifted, is really a danger>us
matter, and the wonder is that
lerious accidents have not occurred,
[t is a fact, however, that while the
tresence of freight trains at this
jrosstng rrequontly causes much in:onvenlence,
no serious uccideut has,
within the iast twenty-five years, tit
east,) occurred there. A removal of
:he depot and siflo-track, to a point
where there is less passing would he
i decided improvement, though, and
>he our people are very anxious for.
